Call of Duty 2 on my 2 year old AMD computer with Radeon 9800 Pro looks better than COD 2 on the Xbox 360 in HD on the Samsung DLP I saw at Best Buy.

I wouldn't base it on the demos. All indications are that the COD2 demo doesn't look as good as the full retail game. Even then, there are other games that look better than COD2 (PGR3, Kameo, PD Zero).

So? The majority of HDTV sets are component with splits between HDMI, DVI, and even VGA. I believe MS has left open the possibility of releasing cables for these.

Most Xbox games didn't even go past using the first layer of the DVD and better compression techniques are allowing them to get more storage out of the discs. Using DVD saves them in terms of costs of the console and the read times are likely faster than what Blu-Ray will be offering.

I never got this one either but they've said that 80% of the consoles they are shipping is of the Premium sort so it may as well be standard. Considering you are getting the component cables, the hard drive, the wireless controller, the headset, and a media remote with the premium package it is actually a good deal.

I have a feeling PS3 is gonna clean house when it comes out.

Well, they've got alot of hype to live up to at this point. No final hardware, no playable demos, nothing but prerendered video, no hints at what games will be available at release.....and release is supposed to be Spring '06?

I've got the same issue with the Revolution at this point. All Nintendo has done is hyped the controller but we haven't got a clue about the games or how they actually play with the new controller. All we've seen is a cutsie video with actors waving the remote/controller around non-sensically as if they are playing a game.

My wife would kick me out of bed if I did that. I'm getting two, maybe three, at release and getting DOA4 and Oblivion later on.

I have a 7800GTX512 coming in the mail so I don't really care about 360 but I guess it's an adequate substitute for those that can't afford mid range pcs and have poor taste in games.

Oh yeah? Show me a PC that can play PGR3, PDZ, Kameo, NHL 2k6, Condemned, etc. No matter how great your PC is, you aren't going to be playing those games (and MANY more great ones to come) on it.

And yes, the same example can be made vice-versa.

Gaming on a console is a completely different experience than gaming on a PC... So why are we comparing apples to oranges?

Im talking from a graphics perspective, not proprietary titles.

I agree they are different, but i am not as impressed with the graphics demos this time around.

So, you're saying that a couple of video cards in SLI (which retail near $1000) are "already matching" the $300 Xbox 360? Well, ummm... HELLO?

And yes, I do think it's fair to make this comparison, since those graphics cards sole purpose is gaming.

But again, it doesn't matter. Because no matter how great of a PC you have, you are still going to be missing out on some great gaming experiences. (And of course, vice-versa.)

In the past, you couldnt surpass a new console in graphics power under any possible conditions at its launch. That is not the case today.

And yes, i agree that having both is ideal, and that having a console is lot more cost-efficient. However ive got more play out of Civ4 in past few weeks than i got out of my xbox in 4 years. It was basically a horrible $400 dvd player. (4 controllers, xbox live kit for burnout 3, Halo and BO3 at their at launch)

Actually i take that back, the original Halo got a lot of play out of me and my friends, however Halo2 got about 2 days out of me.

Define "leading edge gaming" because I've never upgraded my computer on a 6month cycle and don't know a single competitive gamer who does. 6 months is a rediculously short period of time to continously upgrade your computer. My video card is a 9800pro, while not perfect, is a dx9 card.

Xbox 360 isn't a PC replacement so there is really no point in comparing it to your PC. You'll probably never play massives or RTS games on the 360 just like most people would rather hit their head against the wall than play sports games on the PC.

yes 24hour walmarts are supposted to put them out as well..
