i got one,

w00t!!!

edit... i was at the sterling, va release... stood in line for 9 hours and procured a premium xbox... our bb had no forced bundles but you could opt to build one to save money... they had a total of around 125 premium and around 90 core... hell i actually just got home...

went to the wallyworld in lewisville, tx at 6 pm...was about 40th in line...they had 22 premium and 22 core so I ended up with a core...

not sure why they didn't give out numbers or anything...some guy in line made list of first 45 guys in line. right at 12:01, there was a mad rush of people to the layaway counter where you had to pay for it...the walmart managers finally agreed to use this informal list (there would have been total hell if they didn't)...of course, there were people who tried to sneak into the line that didn't know about the list...

went ahead and picked up tiger woods and project gotham...

It doesn't, plain and simple. My folks have a stand alone media center extender (yes, the functionality built into the 360 has been available for a year now - the only thing the 360 adds beyond the obvious gaming is a music visualizer and menus which are as animated as a WMCE05 PCs menus), and it will not play Divx. I wouldn't expect MS to put it in either, as they have their own codec agenda to push. I have no doubt someone will eventually mod it though.

Sounds like a page from Sony's book. The only recent Nintendo console I can think that comes anywhere close to your description was the 64. The cube was not anywhere near as hyped as the PS2 was.

I went to the same Walmart tonight where I bought my PSP on opening night...there was maybe one or two other people in line that night for the PSP and well over 70 for the XBOX 360 earlier tonight...

not sure if this would be considered apples to apples though...

No matter what anybody may say, Microsoft has done a fantastic job with the 360, and put a lot of work into Live, and it'll certainl pay off for them. This may be the first "new" console I've ever bought. I'm still working on the DC I bought just last year

In the aggregate, we are not changing our 90 day forecast of 2.75 to 3.0 million units

Lets say they sell 3 million in 3 months, at an average of $350 dollars, thats

$1,050,000,000 ... holy crap, a projected trillian dollars in sales, and that only counts for the console.

So if they lose money on each console, I wonder how much.

Maybe my math is wrong but how does $1,050,000,000 equal a trillion dollars? It looks more like a little over a billion dollars to me.

If it was actually a trillion dollars, they would just have to sell a few more shipments and the entire US national debt would be paid off.

Gonna be a long wait for anyone who wants one.... at my store by the time I got off work (10PM) there were 21 people outside.... we got 21 in. And they all are still waiting for another hour and a half... they have been in the rain about 12 hours now, thats just insane. Cold and rainy 12 hour wait.

Wow, i just came back from waiting for the Xbox... some places were taking rainchecks, but even the rainchecks had limits, AND they couldn't guarantee anything before Jan. Heck, i would have even taken a raincheck, but i didn't even make the lineup for that. I only waited an hr and froze my ass off, i can't believe people waited all night. Those who were hardcore enough got the system though.

How many did Sams have? I went to Walmart this morning, but the sob's opened an hour earlier than they told me Sunday. I then went to Best Buy, buy people were camped out there, and they were at least 100 people waiting at 6, and the stores didn't opened until 10.

Kmart was next on my list, but I stuckout there too. They were getting 15, and I was number 16! Damn you Walmart!!!
