I'm addicted to Texas Hold 'em

I wouldn't worry too much about bank rolls; just find some good poker players, add them to your friends list, and join their tables when they are on.

There will always be retards on Live! games. The solution is not to play with them. I too was annoyed by games where morons would go all-in every hand pre-flop; I just left those games and found some really great players on other tables.

Best of all; it was FREE. I've put more hours playing with my poker buddies in Hold 'em than I've put into any other game so far.

Although the game still has HHUUGGEE graphical tearing in the game, and the game is full of bugs as well. I still think the graphics could have been much better. It's weird cause if you watch the beginning, the demo in the background runs much smoother than the actual game, and it looks amazing. But when you play, the vsync issues w/the bad framerate can cause a lot of graphical flaws while you play.

The tearing is INSANE. It's driving me nuts. It's the worst in cut-scenes, but it happens a lot when just running around too and it bugs the crap out of me.

It's almost unnaceptable, and I have no clue how the hell it passed testing with all of that crap. The cutscenes run at like 15 FPS and have the worst tearing in the game. The graphics aren't even that good, aside from the FPS and tearing issues, so I don't see why it is so bad.

man I still dunno what you guys are talking about the tearing...
maybe my regular 35 inch component input TV does not tear like those fancy pants HDTVs.. but I really don't have a major issue at all..once in a while I see a small tear but most of the time its great..

Ummm, aren't all XBOX 360 consoles are the same, or am I missing something?

all TV's are not.

SOme cut-scenes are not that bad, but it just doesn't make sense why they put it out like this. It's better than the demo, but you'd think the first time this happend they'd have a team all over fixing it. Oh well. I am enjoying it. I haven't had much time to play yet, but is there a way to use your custom music on your HDD to play only when in the car, on the radio?
http://developer.saintsrow.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2368

"Numerous Questions Regarding V-Sync:
V-Scourge: SR does not use v-sync, either in the demo or the full game. During development we analyzed the issue and concluded the potential framerate hit with v-sync was too severe for our particular title.

To explain the pros/cons a bit more... If v-sync is enabled, the framerate of any game is limited to certain values. It must be an integer that divides evenly into the output device's refresh rate.

In most cases, the TV/monitor in question is running at 60Hz. That means the game's framerate is limited to 60, 30, 20, 15, 12, 10 (and so on) frames-per-second.

So if the game would normally be running at 29 FPS, turning v-sync on would force it down to 20 FPS, almost a 30% hit. Likewise, if the game is running at 35 or 40 FPS (or anything below 60.0), it would be forced down to 30 FPS with v-sync enabled.

We felt this was too big of a price to pay for our particular game, and some screen shearing/tearing in rare situations was a worthwhile trade-off.

We have contacted a few players that have reported more common screen tearing than we observed in the demo, mainly to get more information about their hardware configuration. While it's most likely beyond the control of the game software, if we find any configuration changes that help, we'll certainly share the tips with everyone.

Regardless, any tearing should be improved across the board for everyone in the full game, due to the overall framerate optimizations that were made after the demo build."

Wow considering the game runs probably closer to 20FPS the whole time, that's pretty pathetic from a dev point of view, especially considering the graphics are not even that great.

However with that said, I haven't had as much fun with an xbox360 game as I'm having with Saints Row since Burnout came out.

I'm such a moron.

I just got a 37" LCD HDTV a week or so ago, and I THOUGHT that I had flipped the switch on the component cable to HDTV.

Turns out that I went to check my settings today and I never switched it over. All I have to say is that it made a pretty huge difference. GRAW looked much nicer

I have got Saint's Row and Gun on the way from Gamefly right now. I'll see if I can notice the tearing, but I normally don't pay THAT close attention to the graphical details in games.

Hell yeah me too. I am having a fvcking blast! I never got into GTA as much as I am getting into SR. It's great. Haven't tried multiplayer yet too.

How are you all playing it? Are you doing missions random, or going down a path? IE all one gang missions, or vice kings this time, rollers next time, whatever is closer, etc. I am doing all the vice kings first, then will move on.

Damn, I can't wait to play. I've got the game in my hands, but I'm waiting for my 360 to arrive.

Just an FYI. I've been dealing with MS on the repair on my console and the supervisor said the price on the out of warranty repair is going up from $129 to $139. Un-freaking-believable.

I too am dealing with MS repair....seems my hard drive may be whacky. Causing all kinds of dirty disc errors. Seems to be a really high failure rate on this console. Of course, the net heads tend to make it sound worse than it usually is.

I'm curious, can you upgrade the hard drive in the 360 to something bigger? It'd be nice to put lots of music and movies and game stuff without having to worry about space.

I think you could just add a external hard drive to it and store stuff there.

Only music and pics though. Can't do video, demos, game saves, XBLA games, etc.

Still, MS needs to better support external HDDs. If they are truly going to allow us to download music and video content, they have to. Large 2.5" HDDs are too expensive. 3.5" External HDDs are pretty cheap and very large.

Just lock down game saves, demos, and XBLA games to the HDD but allow us to download videos and music to an external HDD.
