Yes, an experienced first basement would've came off the bag and tagged the runner out in one motion, and that would've taken ARod off the hook on the error, but that does not mean the error should go on the first baseman.

Agreed. If it were any other third baseman, the announcer would have been all over him. ARod has gotten way too much bad press, but I don't feel any pitty for him. That's what he gets for being in New York, especially with a 10 year contract that could fund a Mars probe.
