Tough day for Kyle. He really has been quite respectable this year. I'm not sure how I feel about this, but our offense does need some help.

what's to become of Pudge (or Posada) after this season? is pudge just a rent-a-player?

Yes, unless Posada is moving to first base next season.

I don't really like this trade - I think Molina was the main reason behind pitching success this season. Why mess with that?

Because Pudge can call a better game.

I'm going to miss Pudge, yes he called a great game, great throwing arm, but most of all he was a leader. He'll probably have to tone that down a little in NYC, but he leads by example.

I think he's been hitting .390 over the last month (he needs to keep laying off that high fastball). I wish him all the best.

OMG, Joba just left with what looks like a shoulder injury. Hope it's nothing serious or we are in big trouble.

I was just thinking the same thing.

Just saw that. Not good news for Yankees fans out there.

Right now they are saying "stiff shoulder" But that could mean anything...

In the meantime, X hits his 4th HR as a Yankee to tie this game. What an acquisition

OMG walkoff grand slam.
Girardi is going to be second guessed all week why he left a very tired Marte in there to pitch to the righty when he had Robertson all warmed and ready to go.
I myself thought he was going to bring in Robertson.

Great game though.

There have been more than a few times I've second guessed Girardi this year. He has yet to make a notable managerial move that produces an immediate result, at least that I can recall. Yet so often he will make the wrong move, especially with the bullpen.

Should've won this game.

Marte was up to 40 pitches. Rovertson was ready to go. I dont understand the thinking on Girardi's part.

Oh, I disagree. I love the way Girardi handles the bullpen, I think he does a fantastic job with it. Worlds better than Torre, who just found one guy and pitched him until his arm fell off. I think Girardi usually makes all the right moves. But this one is questionable.

I think I know why he did it. Marte's numbers are much better against righties than lefties, and he probably felt Robertson would've walked in a run or thrown a wild pitch with his big curveball. But it's a tough call. NY Talk Radio should be fun tomorrow.

Not Yankees news, per say, but David Ortiz's wrist injury appears not to be fully healed:

My last at-bat, it kind of pulled back a little bit,? Ortiz said of his wrist. ?You feel that click and you get a little concerned about it.?

While Ortiz did not know whether the problem would affect his status for tonight?s game, he knew he might experience some instability in his wrist after tearing a tendon sheath earlier in the season. Ortiz effectively missed two months while resting and rehabilitating the injury, and team medical personnel cautioned him he might feel movement in the joint from time to time.

The division race would be a whole lot harder for the Sox if Ortiz had to sit and, consequently, I think that boosts the Yankees chances of squeezing into the wildcard pretty substantially.

Last game at Yankee Stadium. Nice to see all those old players. Best pitch of the game was Babe Ruth's 91-year-old daughter - I hope I can still breathe at 91, much less get a pitch in the direction of home plate. Didn't feel like going to the Stadium this year, too many non-fans looking for hype. I prefer my memories of walking up to the ticket booths ten minutes before a game and picking up tickets for a few buck. Yeah, I know that had to change.

Can't believe the Yankees are still mathematically in contention for anything.

The Yankees are embarrassing this season, but I still had to watch last night.
Gave me goosebumps.
Bernie finally getting the ovation.
babe's daughter.
Etc.
I personally didnt go for the actors playing the parts, but whatever.
It was a great show and an emotional night for yankee fans everywhere.
