I think the Yankees win tonight w/ Pettite on the mound. I'm not a fan of Bale, I think they will rock him. :disgust:

Sorry to invade your thread again, but are there any truly bad seats in Yankee Stadium? I've found some tickets on StubHub for the last day of the Subway Series, but I'm not sure whether it is worth it to pay a little more for the fancier seats or if any old seats will do. It also loks as if some sections do not allow beer?

Thanks!

KT

Bleachers = no beer but a great view
Some tier seats are also no beer.

The closer you are to home plate the better the seats (IMO)
I wouldn't get Tier seats personally, especially for an afternoon. If Loge Box is available go for that. Covered but with good views and fairly reasonable pricing (relatively)
WTF no beer? It's not like this is Boston. A Yankee fan getting rowdy? *yawns*

Nice!!! Was just looking to see if there was an official thread for the year.

Great game tonight. Wang pitched good, and Melky had a hell of a game.

They are in pain in Mets-town right now; Pedro left with hamstring issues.

Yeah, Melky played well, so did Giambi.
You could tell Girardi was thrilled to have his first win.

Yep; Giambi looks good and fit this year; hopefully he can stay healthy.

yeah instead of steroids he's on estrogen

It's a contract year for Giambi, so of course he's going to try and get his ass in shape.

Just wanted to say that despite my supreme and everlasting hatred for the Yankees, I've chosen Joba as a closer on two of my fantasy teams.

Why? He's not going to get any saves.

Edit: Nevermind, I just went ahead bought the tickets, you guys took too long
Hpefully it works out.

Ack, sorry to sidetrack the thread again, but I have a quick question that only Yankee fans could answer (well the 2nd question anyway).

I'm about to purchase 2 tickets to the May 18th Yanks/Mets game from StubHub:

1. Is the Loge Box section (farther to the left side of the field) decent?

2. How likely would Yankee fans be to shift down a seat, since the seat numbers are 5 & 10 (we'd need everyone to shift down 1 spot in order for us to be able to sit together)?

Thanks so much!

Well, you proved that you know nothing about baseball.

Ever heard of a guy named Mariano Rivera?

Plethora of callers calling WFAN today complaining about the length of last nights game. Most Yankee/REd Sox games last almost 4-5 hours. Well, duh, with 2 of the best offenses in baseball, and experienced hitters who probably take more pitches and work the count better than any other lineups in baseball wtf do they expect?

Someone even said that MLB should step in and try to shorten the games. Some of the best games ever are Yankee/Sox, and no lead is ever safe. I watch every game trying not to gnaw my fingers off. Just don't watch it if you think it's too long or boring.

Great game last night; neither team was pitching well and hitters took advantage big time. Why is Manny so good? Will he just retire, please?

Yeah, I remember the day-night doubleheader they had in 2006. The first game was a little shy of 4 hours and the second game was almost 5 hours. I saw both games and it was quite a bit of baseball, but still enjoyable. Plus, the Yankees won both of those games so it ended on a good note.

I cant wait until Joba replaces Moose in the rotation.... BTW Jesus Montero's (small sample size) line so far is AVG: .364 .OBP: .397, SLG: .545, OPS: .942, E: 0 (1) PB: 0 (1), CB: 0 (1), PB 0 (3). Not enough walks but he isnt striking out and is doing very well for his age (18).

I was always a big Moose fan and I believe he can still get the job done if he locates well. Depsite what the Yankee brass say I highly doubt Joba is going to be a starter any time soon. They'd have to be crazy to do that. As is stands now if the Yankees have a lead the game is over after 7 innings. That's much better than having him start once in 5 games. He won't be as dominant as a starter either.

What is this based on? He was dominant in college, dominant in the minors, and has shown he can dominate at the big league level (as a reliever). We need a shutdown starting pitcher in the playoffs (look at what Beckett and Carmona did last year in the playoffs) and I believe he (Joba) can be that guy.

He needs to start a game in the Majors first.

Well, it's based on the fact that you can't physically throw with the same velocity over 7 innings that you can if you come in for one inning. You know it's only one inning and you let it fly.

Taking a page out of his father's book:

Hank Steinbrenner wants Joba as a Starter now

I think he fails to understand that the Yankees bullpen boils down to Mariano and Joba and if you remove Joba who else are you going to have to pitch in the 7th or the 8th? Also just because one guy can throw major heat doesn't mean he is an automatic starter.

Yeah, the Yankees are playing terrible baseball. They can't hit their way out of a paper bag right now. I'm confident this team will start to hit soon. Cano is not a .220 hitter, Arod and Posada are coming back, Giambi is gonna hit more, etc. But will it be too late? Thankfully nobody in the division ran away with it yet. Pitching needs help, but Im not as worried about the pitching as I am about the hitting right now.
