It's kinda fun catching some sub $500 computers and then throwing 'em back in after everything's been picked through. Then you refresh a couple times and count the seconds before it's gone!

I had a couple pretty nice deals, but I'm always waiting for that real smokin' badass deal. I see them but, damn, they go quick!. Just looking to replace my ancient 1ghz P3...

Thanks everyone for your help... I ended up buying it.. Now I have to figure out what to do with the other system. I figure as long as it holds me over for the next 3+ years like my last one, it'll be a bargain, since I paid much more than $754 for my last computer. Thanks again.

Wow, nice deal. I got somthing similar for $465 after tax with a Pentium 4 630 processor. Didn't know they had 8400's under $400...

If you guys are buying these for eBay, take a look at completed auctions first. I have a feeling you're going to agree that selling these locally (classifieds, craigslist) is the way to go.

That's what my 8400 from December came with. I ordered a 3.2GHz and got a 3.4GHz. The substitution seems very common.

If I were to order a system and take the chip out and replace it with my current chip. Which system should I look at? Intel 530 doesn't sound like my 533mhz FSB 2.4B chip. Sorry I don't know the newer intel chips

So was that the last drop? Contemplating whether to lose sleep over this or not... so far I haven't seen the great deals others have been posting about.

520 = 2.8ghz 1mb cache
530 = 3.0ghz 1mb cache
540 = 3.2Ghz 1mb cache
550 = 3.4Ghz 1mb cache
560 = 3.6Ghz 1mb cache
570 = 3.8Ghz 1mb cache

replace 5xx w/ 6xx for 2mb cache
and then there are the few Extreme Editions, 3.4 800fsb, 3.46 1066fsb and 3.73 1066

intel sucks with their new numbers BTW

Won't work with either a 4700 nor 8400. Different socket cpu's.

Bamacre, have you had any customer complaints about these, or had to take advantage of the 21 day return policy?

I have had two people say that their sound was not working, but I had them reinstall the drivers, and everything was fine afterwards. Other than that, no. The warranty is transferrable, so if anything else has gone wrong, I have not been notified. Overall, all of my customers have been satisfied and left me positive feedback, in fact I am at 100% positive feedback, and now an Ebay Power Seller.

I bought a refurb'd Dell P3 800mhz system (XPS T800r) years ago, still works fine as my dad's home PC. I also found an 8300 Dimension with a 9800pro for $440 for my brother last year. He loves it, and it's a great system, very quiet. It only came with 512mb of ram, and I'll upgrade him soon to a full gb. But for $440, and with a 128MB 9800pro, what do you expect?

I've also parted out a couple of these systems, top notch quality stuff.
