What's sad is i still have an 8100 i use as an htpc. Never even considered tinkering with it, well nothing more than adding cards or memory.

i went ahead with another 8400 for 400 bucks to swap the 3.4 6xx in the xps with the 3.2 and sell the 3.2 off in the XPS

How much is that vid card worth? Other than that... what's so special about the computer? Seems kind of expensive compared to the 8400s people were getting earlier for 400-500 dollars. Only thing I see different than what they were getting is the sound/vid card.

Every time I look, the cheapest 8400 is $649 (after discount) with occasional $500+ systems (just a couple) popping up. The $500+ systems must be somebody's discards or cart timeouts.
