He's got enough money. I truly believe that he wants to fix this country. The biggest issue is the China problem. We simply don't make anything here anymore.

I just can't understand how people would accept the message of "We're going to bring manufacturing back to the US and high paying jobs", yet his entire business is based on obtaining cheap items from China and paying working low wages. He does exactly everything everyone hates about business, and somehow he's supposed to suddenly change everything and work for the people in his 70th year of life? How are his own businesses going to continue?

His business is based on cheap labor from overseas because if it wasn't, he would not be able to compete in a marketplace where there is no downside to doing so. There is nothing wrong with him wanting to pass measures to disincentivize this practice from continuing in order to improve domestic manufacturing, as long as it is applied fairly, to every business in that market, including his own.

He would be an incredibly incompetent business leader if he were to apply such measures to his business alone, as it would obviously be uncompetitive and would quickly go out of business.

Yeah, but I don't understand how anyone expects him to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Tax cuts/incentives to bring manufacturing back, great, but wages will definitely need to be much higher here than anywhere else they are currently manufacturing, which then means higher prices on the goods, which people do not want to pay. It's untenable. They should be focusing on service jobs or something; those higher paying, low barrier to entry, manufacturing jobs are just not coming back.

I think there could be a niche of high end manufacturing. The best products made by well paid people, and sold at high prices. That doesn't get us back to the 60s though, and I don't know how a president can make it happen.

Gee I don't remember CEOs, including failed CEOs, getting golden parachutes back then...

Finally bothered to look at the vote counts in some of the swing states and the formerly blue states... Trump won by 100k or less in more than a few. Random chart I've seen thrown around says voter turnout was in the 55% range.

No politician is in it for anyone but themselves. Making this a Donald thing is asinine. Anyone voting for someone is a fool. I didn't vote for the Donald, I voted to not have Hillary. I know the Donald is an idiot and loudmouth, but I can handle that.

I had no idea Hillary was so widely hated over there!
I thought Trumps bigoted rants would be too much for most, appears the uneducated dont mind that sort of thing.

I didn't either, I had an idea... but it should have been obvious. Both times during the Democrat's primaries, Lying Hillary ran against Obummer and Bernie and she lost the first time, almost lost the second time. A big chunk of the party's loyalists didn't want her twice in a row. The country also obviously didn't like dynasties. They booted out Bush this past year pretty early on.

Is anyone kinda looking forward to a Trump presidency out of curiosity?

I mean, come on... we all kinda knew what a Clinton presidency would be like. We just had an Obama Democratic presidency for 8 years, and we had her husband as a president for 8 years as well.

Trump, on the other hand? He's a wild card. We don't even know if his own party is going to support all of his ideas, let alone his opposition. It might not be effective government, but should be interesting to watch!

I'm sure it's going to be terribad, but now that we're stuck with it I am interested to see how it plays out.

That's honestly how I see it. Clinton would have been more or less status quo hidden agendas/corruption... typical government stuff of today. That's kinda how it is here in Canada now with Trudeau. None of his promises really happened, it's not necessarily bad, or worse, just mostly the same old. With Trump it's going to be kinda like Rob Ford. A little crazy, but shit gets done at the end of the day.

Now if I was American I'd probably have a different view but hard to tell. I would have voted third party as I sure as hell would not have wanted to vote for Clinton either. Even at our elections here I usually vote third party.

I just don't see how anyone could vote for someone who would not even pledge to accept the results if he had lost, TOTAL disrespect and this man won by people simply wanting to "stir things up", let's see how they like it one year in.

Trump is what we Yanks call a classic TriState loud mouth. It is amusing how so many people take her so seriously at his smack.

Are you on Facebook at all? Have you seen all the crazy shit that got posted there about both candidates? Things like Hillary is a lesbian witch, Trump is a Russian spy, etc. You and I might look at that stuff and simply roll our eyes or laugh at the silliness of it all. Unfortunately, there are lots of people that read and believe the things their "friends" are posting. People believe what they want to believe. People in Ohio want to believe Trump can return their jobs, so that's what they choose to believe.

I do honestly believe that Facebook ruled the election. A friend of mine has been spouting "Hillary has brain damage, is hiding Parkinson's disease, and is an alcoholic" like it's a scientific fact. 9/10's of people that hate Hillary over her emails have no idea what the emails even pertained to or why they're being scrutinized. All they hear is "she used an unsecure mail server" and think "UNSECURE??? SHE PUT THE COUNTRY AT RISK!!!" Then all the stuff about the election being fixed to make sure Hillary won...people were eating this stuff up.

This may the the first President elected due to memes.

My point wasn't his age, it's that he's done nothing but selfish and backstabbing behavior his entire life, but suddenly, after 7 decades, he's supposed to throw all that out the window and start working for the people?
I have a theory. When he was part of the system, he'd try to game it, but now that he can change the system, maybe he'll change it so that it's an equal playing field for all so he doesn't need to game it anymore.

We'll see. I have a hunch that Trump's presidency will be a great one. It's kinda funny how things work out sometimes.
