He's broken so many unwritten rules already it doesn't make any difference now. His previous scandals and brushes with the law should've been enough to dissuade him from attempting to run in the first place. Not releasing his tax returns was another red flag. But hey he's going to make America great again so who cares.

There's a forming news story coming out saying he may owe $650 million dollars to China- twice what he previously reported. This will be interesting if it pans out. Might be why he's not releasing his tax forms.

Couldn't agree more. Most of the presidential candidates and past few presidents (at least) were running for influential power that can be bartered to interests for favors and money. They can talk about loving this country and caring - and they might, to an extent - but it's really all about personal gain.

Trump is just less subtle about it. It should be reassuring that he's such a polarizing figure that he's being watched so closely, making it a little harder to pull off nefarious actions.

It would be nice if we elected a purely altruistic president who was actually interested in limiting his or her own power in the position, but the structure of elections in America doesn't favor such a candidate.

Trump isn't running for power- he's running for ego. It's a big difference.

Reagan did pretty well, people had low expectations of him, so when he actually pulled something off, he was considered a success.

I feel sorry for people who are so freaked out by Trump winning, they seem pretty fragile.

Reagan was also friendly, spoke intelligently, and was the GOVERNOR O F CALIFORNIA before being President.

We just elected a 70 year old guy that has never held a public office of any sort, has no idea how to run a public office, has insulted half of the world's leaders, is getting too cozy with the one world leader we don't want to be cozy with, had a whole platform that ran on racist notions, and countless other issues...any one of which would have disqualified any other person running for President. Now he's surrounding himself with public figures for advice that make Darth Vader seem like an OK guy.

Huh. You're right. Why freak out?

Yeah there's always been tons of corruption and agendas. Definitely would be nice if there would be a stop to all that, but never going to happen.

It's kinda sad when you consider that all that stuff is legal, then what snowden did (which is a GOOD deed) is considered highly illegal. When immoral things are legal and moral things arn't, it's a sign of a very corrupt government.

Not the best example to support a case for Trump.

I dunno, he seems to be remembered fondly
Only by people who choose not to remember Reagan as he was, but only as an icon. The real Reagan was a traitorous war criminal who blew the federal budget on payback to his friends.

Harry Truman, with a 22 percent approval rating in 1952. This is lower than Nixon's 24 percent just before his resignation, and George W. Bush's 25 percent at the beginning of the global financial crisis.

President Truman's approval rating collapsed in large measure due to the declining popular support of the Korean War - which he committed the US to without Congressional approval - charges of corruption within his Cabinet and the Democratic Party, and his forceful handling of labor strikes in the coal and steel industries.

He also faced a deal of criticism for his foreign interventions outside of Korea in the early days of "containment" of the Soviet Union and international communism.

These people want Bannon's fascist ethnocentric america because they believe it's better for them than liberal democracy, and they may well be right.

They don't care, they just want theirs.

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but yeah...if Reagan were around with today's media, they would have lambasted him.
