OFP2 out this week

Who else is getting Operation Flashpoint 2? I haven't seen anything hinting at a Steam version so guess I need to go old school.

Saw a xbox 360 review somewhere that gave it 8/10. but I am sure it will be significantly better on PC.

should be out today or tomorrow.

It is on Steam but there is still not a buy button for it. It is supposed to be available in 4 hours. There must have been some hiccups about getting it on Steam so late. I plan on picking it up.

I think a Demo may be coming out later this month. I think it does have potential especially for the PC version since I think the Console versions are severely gimped in aspects of multiplayer and editing tools

Mark my words, this game is going to be terribad. When the developers release BS instead of genuine gameplay footage it should be a massive red flag that the game just plain sucks.

I haven't really been following this, because BF2 is enough realism for me, but I saw this last night: the first 10 minutes of actual game play on YouTube.

I'm reserving judgement on this, becuase like GodlessHeathen I think it's going to be shit. Initially the videos looked awesome, but they were complete BS. The gameplay footage looks clunky and simple. But Im fully ready to be wrong.

Wont be preordering.

what do you mean clunky and simple? its an FPS...they usually have simple controls, unless you're looking for a SIM. The actual gameplay footage looked fine to me.

Its a game made for the consoles. I'm surprised it comes with a mission editor if they could not be bothered shipping it with dedicated server files.

Maybe they will come after. Who knows?

Wow, spending some time on other forums filled with peolpe who ahve played - this game is apparantly terribad. I recommend anyone who has preordered to cancel their order.

No dedicated servers
No anti-cheat
No CD key required for online play
Really shit graphics - no good atmospheric effects at all
Incredibly stupid friendly and enemy AI
No story
32 player max online, though apparantly lags unplayably with 4 players
Very close FOV

Damnit. I've been craving a good modern military style FPS lately and was kind of hoping this would hold me over until MW2, but so far the comments seem to say its bad.

Looks like its back to Battlefield 2 for the ump-teenth time. Shit fps after shit fps year after year. Battlefield 3 cant come soon enough

Holy negativity.

Not that this could change your mind based on consoles or the average spoiled brat on the forums but I played it last night with a friend doing co-op and had an awesome time. love the game so far.

However, if it doesn't have dedicated server support-that is lame. My buddy hosted a game last night for co-op and it ran well but the friends/online interface could surely use work. steam chat was messed up too with the game running.

gameplay definitely not perfect, the ai can be wonkey, its not jam packed with video crunching effects, but for a game of this scope I thought it looked and sounds awesome.

Id say its sort of a cross between ofp1, ghost recon and cod4. not as polished as cod 4 but better than expected.

let you know more as I go, id wait for demo or more player feedback but I was relieved after reading some of the replies here

but then again I hate games like Halo that the masses seem to love. its not for everyone.

LOL @ Battlefield 3 honks. Listen, when you start building a castle with shit, you'll eventually HAVE your castle, but it will still be built with shit. This is why I don't own a single EA title. After I played Battlefield2 for 4 months, I got so sick of it I had a friend of mine take it out to the shooting range and put a couple of slugs into the case and CDs. I didn't want to think of the children who could possibly play this game and swallow the EA purple Kool-Aid. Better to sacrifice the software than the hardware.
