There can be no other legitimate explanation for a new Harbor Freight opening up 1 mile from my house.

Jealous atheists and agnostics flame away!

Their website makes my eyes bleed. Is that God punishing me for blasphemy?

You would have had a field day with the old site. This is the "new and improved" version, about 1yr old. Doesn't bother me tho, all I tend to see are the prices and review stars (or lack of.)

There's nothing like a place close by to buy cheap POS Chinese tools...

I have a Harbor Freight about 1.5 miles away...If you watch the newspapers, (for those who get a paper) there are always 20% off coupons. Home Depot and Lowe's will USUALLY take those on tools and some other things.

I have a harbor freight, northern tool, and some woodcraft supply store in an old circuit city building.

Habor Freight... lol. You have a store stocked full of crap waiting to break within a mile now. Like I love those Central Pneumatic impacts they have that last like a whole week. At least Home Depot and Lowes will carry some IR in addition to their cheap crap.

They have been inconsistent taking HF 20% coupons around here, but now that HF is sandwiched within 1/2 mile of each... They indeed make a lot of sh!t, but they also have a ton of items that I'd buy in a heartbeat before going to HD or Lowes, who also sell a lot of cr@p (ie their vices suck, among other things.)

That's a treat. All you need now is a Fry's!

It may last a week, but their warranty lasts a year. There are things that I rarely buy from them, usually items that have bearings, brushes, or hydrolic fluid. But like I said, plenty of other non-electric stuff that can serve someone just as well. For example, the last thing I bought from them was a small steel mallet to knock out a front axle...about 1/3 the price of the other places iirc. That was when I wasn't as blessed and had to drive all the way across town in traffic.

How can you love that which does not exist?

I didn't say it was open YET!...

Don't buy anything made out of cast iron or any type of abrasive; total crap.

Iron...agree...abrasive...for example?

No one goes to HF without having a history of some klunkers. That's why the most important thing after shopping at HF is to keep the receipt, and oh yeah, and wear goggles when using their tools.

My whole church prayed for one. Nothing yet. I think harbor freight bases their locations on actual market surveys or something.

When I lived in Mira Mesa, San Diego for three years I had to drive to Escondido, El Cajon, or Chula Vista to get to Harbor Freight, but I didn't complain because it was better than driving to Buford, GA from Newnan, GA, where I had lived before. Just before moving back, they opened one up about a mile away on Miramar Rd, Mira Mesa, San Diego. When I got back to Newnan, GA, I found that they had opened one in Douglassville and one in Fayetteville, both of which are as bad or worse than driving to any of the out-of-town SoCal ones. Oh well. At least it's better than it was and not much worse than the situation was in SD for most of those three years.

The solution is clear...time to move back to your old digs in SD...for multi-reasons of course.

I've been fortunate enough to have had one in town, but it is at one corner and I'm literally at the opposite corner, couldn't be a longer more pia drive while still being in the same town. Gas has gotten pretty expensive too to void savings, making many trips for little odds and ends not worthwhile.
