I saw her stupidity coming and stopped in the middle of the road and she still hit me trying to cross through my lane of traffic to pull into a driveway. I got my car off the road and her first words were "I thought you saw me."

I've stopped letting people in if they're trying to cross a solid white line like at an off-ramp. Too many late-lane-cutters because they're too good to wait like the rest of us. F U people.

I've found that if you put your car out to the left a bit (car ahead is offset to the right), cars trying to come in will look for another spot presenting a better point of entry. The illusion is there's nowhere to insert themselves.

I think you're a bit confused. His claim was that he couldn't slow down. My claim was that he didn't give me any time to slow down and that his 'cars behind me' reasoning was dumb because it's rush hour (so cars behind everyone). This will be my first ever accident claim so I seem o do a pretty good job of not magically finding accidents

I got the police report and he totally lied to the cop. Said he was merging and I 'came out of nowhere on his left and accelerated to cut him off.'

We'd been driving next to each other for a least half a mile and no one was accelerating anywhere in constant steady traffic.

Fortunately the "Hazardous Action" portion of the report is "None" for me and "Failure to yield" for him

Still probably a good idea to get a dash cam..

Different jurisdictions, but I've had accidents in Washington, Texas, and California, and I was always able to get a cruiser to respond and issue a report. I've actually requested it even when I was at fault, because I'd rather have the official record then invite the possibility someone will try to slip something through insurance or worse.

Yeah - apparently my insurance company would have requested the report themselves but for the $5 it cost me I figured it was good to have a copy for myself
