Seriously though, for a special forces type mission like they went on, would they really choose the 50 something captain, a 50 something doctor lady, and a fat Klingon?

The whole premise was contrived, also didn't like the convienient, "you need Will Riker" he's the best pilot we got. In the entire history of the show, there was never any reference to Riker being a great pilot, then they lazily granted him that talent.

OK, I've just been watching all of them from season 1 through 7. There are assloads of references to him being the best pilot in star fleet.
The only problem was they completely forgot about that in the movies, when they put the fucking councilor in the drivers seat.

umm no, there are not assloads of references to Riker being such an awesome pilot.

For example the episode "Booby Trap" where they need a crack human pilot, they go to PICARD, who was the best pilot, because it fit the plot for that episode.

Typical TNG, they would play with each character's backlog and skills to support whatever the current episode's needs are, even if that contradicts other established history.

They were really lazy

BTW-I heard there was this one episode where the Enterprise goes to a space station and it gets overrun by Tribbles and they fight with Klingons.
