Results are on par with for my GTX using the same settings, so they must be valid for X2900XT as well.. I do get more fps probably because I have my E6600@3.6GHz..(@1600x1200 48/62) The sad part remains that if you enable everything @high you end up with less than half FPS!!

And I do believe as well that the drivers are the reason for the mediocre X2900XT performance.

I too believe theres room for improvement with ATI's drivers, but if these results are accurate they sure have their work cut out for them!

Well considering that this is hardware that has been in our hands for only a few days based on a radically new architecture running the first piece of software on an equally young API thats a port from a console......

Wow... I've been in the ATI camp for years with a few flirts with a nvidia card or two, currently have had an x1950xtx since it came out and was looking forward to a DX10 Ati part but this card is depressingly bad. Drivers will help some but it aint gonna help that much... So at choice 2 wait for Ati's next gen or buy nvidia... This part is not a serious option.

Come on... it took so long for Nvidia to sort out their DX10 drivers... remember? Relax ATi fans... they will get it right. They just need to borrow some of the Nvidia staff.

The rumor is AMD will release the Radeon 2950XT using 65nm GPU coming in Sept time frame.

Guys, this is a "The Way its Meant to be Played", nVidia branded game. The 2900XT simply hasn't been optimized for it but nVidia has been able to make tons of tweaks and changes for it to run well. This benchmark is not a full representation of the cards potential (although it still probably won't match/beat an 8800GTX).

true, but in the past, even games which WERE optimized for one brand over the other still played well enough on both. What we saw in that review (if it's legit, lol), was a BEAT DOWN of epic proportions

ouch....i sure hope its a driver issue but i can say for a fact that lost world plays like crap on two x1900's in crossfire with DX9 and they do have mature drivers. this certainly isnt reassuring for anyone thats ordered a 2900......or two but then again i cant say i will be buying any dx10 games this year anyway.

AMD even said their drivers are superior because they worked on them for a long time and even for xbox. this is some joke, although I think it's mostly a driver issue but after been 6month late I wonder what the hell they've been doing with their products. so late and the product still so immature.

This, I agree with. People buying hardware now are probably interested in performance they can expect now. Not many people buy hardware and hope that everything works out knowing that there is a faster alternative out there right now.

However, there are those of us who wait like myself.

Not really, this game will obviously run bad on ATI hardware right now.

A) the 2900xt's drivers are immature
B) the game is sponsored by nvidia so the devs might have done some "cheating" to make sure ATI hardware runs slower

I would be much more interested in seeing a DX10 crysis or UT3 or any other game without a Nvidia or ATI sticker on the box.

iirc, crytek is sponsored by nvidia. dunno if itll be optimized for it however.
