I don't see any black people opening up businesses in the worst parts of the ghettos of DC and working 60-80+ hours a week every week no vacation no nothing so they can make a better living for their children. But Asian Americans primarily Koreans do this on the regular and put up with the shit that they do so they can provide a better life for their children. I personally know several people who's had a parent robbed and murdered in their stores. But you won't see anyone in the neighborhood marching for that injustice now will you.

Marion Barry should maybe look in the mirror and worry more about local crime and ahem.. drug problems like crack in the area instead of ignorantly shitting on decent folk who come to this country and give up their lives to make a better future for their family.

I will say from having lived in bad areas filled with corner stores ran by Koreans that

1. they work hard as fuck,

Asians are some of the hardest working racist bastards on the planet. People who will look down their noses at "other" asians they consider to be inferior (I believe the order being Japanese -> Korean -> Chinese -> Filipino, but I may be wrong).

They are very work oriented, but just like most Neuvo Riche, I have seen more gaudy crap being bought by the asian community than any other. Having friends and in-laws that do things like buy a dozen different LV bags (1st generation FOB's too!), or have "get a car" on the top of their wish list WHEN THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE A LICENSE!!! (BTW, the car was a Mercedes. Only low-lifes drive Toyotas... and a Ford?!?!?!?!?).

It is a testament to their work ethic that they CAN buy these things 1st generation, and that this ethic lasts, in many families, several generations before the "American" work ethic starts to show its ugly head, but a sad reflection when that work is done to the point where, even after achieving a comfortable place in life, it just ain't enough. (Work 'til death, then work some more).

The notion that drug use devalues one's humanity and invalidates one's opinions is DEA propoganda. Why do they want us to view an entire class of people as subhuman based on a recreational choice? Why has any government agency in history ever wanted the populace to view an entire subclass as subhuman?

There are a lot of very high functioning cocaine users out there. To be so glib about the man's opinions and attribute them to drug use when many non-drug users share those views is an excuse not to think. As long as we tell ourselves "it's the drugs talking" we don't have to engage the fact that these ideas actually gain traction for other more relevant (but not necesarily good) reasons. Seriously, are xenophobia and tribalism really symptoms of drug use, or are they just maybe endemic to humanity?
