Guys seriously, this is never going to get to discovery.
You think it's just a stunt?
Personally, I'd really like to see this go through discovery and trial. It would be at the very least amusing, and at best a clusterfuck of biblical proportions.

The essential claim here is that Clinton and others are lying about Trump’s connections to Russia, which would mean that I’m discovery Trump would have to testify under oath about these connections and also turn over all personal and business records related to Russia.

I think the odds of him doing that are basically zero.

What Trump is probably doing here is giving a nice donation to Clinton’s attorneys when he has to pay their fees.

If he's that dumb let him do it.

If it does get to discovery (It will not for many reasons) when the defendants get to start requesting documents from Trump and the Trump campaign this lawsuit will either be dropped or cause serious problems for Trump.

I can hear Trump and his lawyers now when asked for documents:

“Your honor, this entire lawsuit is nothing but a Democrat Party ploy to gain illegal access to Mr. Trump’s personal information!”

“But you filed the lawsuit.”

“See! .... That just proves how sneaky, corrupt and duplicitous the Democrat Party is!”

lol

You’d think by now Trump would be running out of lawyers willing to file frivolous lawsuits. Goes to show that there's a bottomless pit of shit lawyers.

He hired a slimy ambulance chasing personal injury firm.

That's all he could get.

Seriously.

One step up from Saul Goodman.

All that matter here is the "Trump sues Hillary" headlines which is all his brainless followers will need to hear. How many times have they clung onto a headline and repeated it nonstop despite being disproven in detail here on the forums? Remember no Russian collusion? Same shit different day.

Oh poor Donnie Trump. He feels that his importance within the national conversation is fading. War is getting all the attention. Biden is getting all the attention. Even Hillary has been making the news rounds carrying a big smile on her face. And god forbid, Florida's Ron DeSantis is now the big news. The big news, that once Donald Trump had full claims to. Remember, with Trump its all about distraction. Everything is only meant as a distraction. So... Trump spent how much money to become only a passing thought in the news on this day of March 23rd 2022? You think Donnie got his moneys worth, considering his attorneys will most likely never see a single dime?

one thing i don't get...how can trump file a RICO lawsuit against another party?

isn't RICO brought by the government against another entity/individual?

shouldn't this be defamation/libel?

either way, not getting to discovery, sadly.

I'm not that well versed with RICO, but this lawsuit will probably fail.

Trump did too many things which caused the financial problems that he's claiming as damages. Trump didn't have to praise Putin 20 times in public during that campaign. He didn't have to say he had no business in Russia, while it was later discovered that he had a signed deal to build a Trump tower in Moscow. His staff didn't have to have 150 contacts with Russian officials, and lie about them. His son and campaign manager didn't have to have a meeting with a Russian lawyer where they expressed happiness over the Russians having stolen emails.

And on and on.

In the law, a plaintiff generally gets little or nothing after it is proven that they caused most of their own harm.

I'm pretty sure there was more thorough legal analysis in your off-the-cuff opinion than in the court filings.

For Trump's sake and the sake of his cult following, any time Trump rears up his chin to the ceiling and screams out to the world that "Hillary is still walking the streets, why is that!!" his rabble will rouse, and well you can bet that Pavlov inspired trigger word will transport his fanatics back in time to the good 'ol days of "Mexico paying for His Wall!!" and give them something to get really upset about because his crew of simian minded bots were mulling around for over a year and they needed to get back hating and fearing and race baiting like the good times they had back then.

Isn't RICO a criminal charge? I hear it being used with arresting mobsters. Not sure why it would be in a civil suit. This should just be libel or slander.
