You can take your chances and use a corp ID you can find on slickdeals etc, I actually legit quality for this (I proactively show my corp ID but some have reported not being asked...) and got a great rate when I spent all of June on Oahu. Some corp id's also allow you to override sellouts and then you get an upgrade for example I booked the cheapest car and got upgraded to a SUV. There def was a car shortage see how I got a brand new car with 12mi on it and WA plates LOL:

When did you get the reservation? My company has an Avis AWD I can use also, but I have tried on and off since May to find a reservation with no luck.

I had no problem picking up my rental in Lihue yesterday. Originally had booked for 2020 and the price doubled between them and now but availability was fine.

had a 2 week trip booked later this year to Kauai. After booking the airfare and hotel, I couldn't find any reasonable car rental rates. I refuse to travel anywhere without the freedom of a rental car and being able to explore on my own schedule, especially an island like Kauai. Luckily I was still within my 24 hr grace period and was able to cancel the airfare without any fees. I'll go back to Hawaii in a few years when things have calmed down a bit.

A few weeks in adavnce I think? Not all AWD are equal, I believe mine can override sellouts. Just checked and it is good for something starting today:

vs no AWD:

Yep, the husband works for a company with this. Even if the station is pillaged they'll basically fall over themselves to give him the lowest mileage/nicest vehicle they can, sometimes with hilarious results.

Last time I traveled there, I used my corporate discount (BIG GROUP) through Enterprise/Alamo/National and ended up saving about $30/day off the rate. Now, however, they're out of cars everywhere. The only companies that have cars are charging $250+/day.... I'm going to keep trying.

I just checked my corporate discount through the hotel again and snagged 4-5 days of rentals for $30 per day plus tax/fees. Finally... that's more like it...under $40/day. Rental hours are only 8am-4pm, so hotel parking will be something if I day trip to rent evenings...but I'm fine with day trips. If I need to, I'll just return the car late and pay the valet.

Yeah I just got back from 6 days in Puerto Rico and the car rental prices were not cheap there, however our friend we went with had a corporate code we used at Enterprise and it dropped the rental down by like over $300. $355 for 6 days seemed very reasonable. Without that though, it was like $700+.

Yikes....I could have gone with a SUV for $57 total, but booked a full size car for $39 total.

The non-corporate rate for those is $120 full or $214 SUV per day! I guess they're still in crisis mode.

I thought I might want to update my plans and snag a rental for an additional day. It looks like whatever inventory they had last week has all been snatched up. Good grief.

I'm glad I booked 3-4 reservations while I had a chance and at last will have a few excursions while there.

Heh... for those prices, I think that I would try renting a truck from U-Haul or Home Depot instead

Yeah, it looks like Home Depot's rentals are booked solid as well. Although, at $129 a day, those trucks and cargo vans weren't exactly a bargain either.
