CAL completely dismantled Tenn, who beat georgia, South Fla who just struggled against Fla alantic beat auburn who beat fla, who almost beat LSU. FSU smacked around bama who took again UoG to overtime. Again someone with SEC intelligence explain to me why you think your conference is so great above all else when the rest of the country is beating up on you??? the only good ooc win you have so far is over va tech who has stuggle against not one but two mac teams.
Stanford beat USC, but lost to UCLA. UCLA lost to ND (who was WINLESS).
So therefore Notre Dame is the second greatest team in the land because they beat UCLA who beat Stanford who beat USC who was ranked second at the time.
You fail at logic. Get a clue.
i forgot to put in the edit.
this was someone in espn comments page posted this.
i don't do the daisy thing, nor do i care about debating sec/big10/pac10 etc : P
i like to watch all football games and pray for a playoff system of some sorts every other day. I just read this earlier today and thought it was kinda funny and would stir ::some:: argument.
---
this was actually the whole post and it basically started more flames on espn : P
See, SEC fans only have one game to rely on all their BS, last years NTG tha's it and they will keep ridding it as long as they can cause if not for that they have nothing. Hey SEC fans this is what the rest of country sees since you guys are so stuck up each others a@@. AGAIN where is the superiority?? Big ten is 8-6 against you in bowl games the past few years, 2-1 last year. Hell Iowa beat fla and lsu in bowl games jus a few years ago, now that is commical. AGAIN someone please explain to me?? Funny thing is i enjoy SEC football a lot its just the fans that i can't stand, see fla owned ohio state in one game your conference has not owned anyone and never will. O and btw the ohio stat/michigan was far more entertaining then last nites one good last drive game is all it was, and if fla stops LSU on one of those 4th downs how stupid does LSU look for not tieing up the game. O and just for some of you SEC fans that i'm sure don't no Urban and Less are both from Ohio. Get over youselves no one cares.

I'm not saying 1-AA can't be a good team, but there's a reason why it was the first time in history that a 1-AA team had beaten a ranked team. Be real here, their players are generally not up to the skill level of 1-A teams.

Sweet. Another thread that makes me feel as stupid as when people at work say: "Are you getting in on the football pool?"
We do have quite the team here, but I fail to see the excitement in athletics that are merely observed and not participated in. I have been called many names for this philosophy, but just find it too humorous to retreat from.

I went to Columbus State, so I guess I have double shame, but truth be told, I never felt any of it.
I was always excited to see an entire city pull together for one team no matter what, though.

I grew up a Big Ten kid pulling for the Buckeyes (grew up in Ohio)...went south for school and learned to love the Auburn Tigers and SEC football. The "high intellectuals" on this board will look down their nose at you but IMO there's nothing greater than college football.

As a Buckeye myself, I love watching them. But indeed, before I went here, I only watched the games OSU played and often only watched the big games specifically. I still hate pro sports to this day, and cannot watch anything other than college football when it comes to sports.
I'd much rather play baseball than watch any sport, any day. Playing baseball was my love when I was growing up.
I definitely understand the logic of not enjoying the idea of watching sports. Tracking player stats and following a team with so much heart, while commendable in some shape or form, is definitely not for me. I'll pay attention to Buckeyes football, but anything past that, I won't be doing. Ashamedly, I don't even follow Buckeyes basketball. Mostly because I despise of the sport and find it incredibly boring. They seriously need to come up with a sport that combines football and basketball, played on a basketball court. I envision basketball with lots of defensive attacks and shoves and a lot less points on the scoreboard. Much more entertaining. All them baskets being made makes me stare off into my own little world after awhile.

YSU??? Akron?? Washington??? Northwestern??? Minnesota???
Not to mention that Purdue hasn't played a ranked (or good) team this year either.
Let us know when they play a real team. Like one from the SEC.

When do those SEC teams play real games outside their conferences (besides traditional opponents)? OSU played Texas the past two years, we play USC the next two years, Miami the two years after that. Can't play them when they all want to start off with two I-AA powderpuffs (and yes, OSU did play Youngstown State this year. Scheduling difficulties didn't allow for a real home and away opponent for this year, so we played Tressel's old team for one year at home).

It's called hockey...I think there's even an NHL team here in Columbus.

IIRC we play YSU a total of three games. In our defense, they are going Div 1A... check that... FBS any year now. It's all part of the in state outreach program apparently.
But yea, most years we have marquis matchups. In the coming years: USC, Oklahoma, Miami(FL). Show me another team with that lineup and I'll be equally impressed.
Well, I really only follow Auburn but I know Tennessee just finished a home-home series with Cal. This year Auburn opened with K-State (Big 12) and played South Florida (Big East). 2006 the Tigers opened with Washington State (Pac-10). 2005 opened with Georgia Tech (ACC). 2003 we played USC (Pac-10) and Georgia Tech (ACC). 2002 was USC (Pac-10) and Syracuse (Big East). Next year and the year after Auburn opens with WVU (Big East). The arguement about soft scheduling is over, let it go...especially since one of the Big Ten heavyweights go beat by one of their creampuffs this year.
