I figured just pour it back into the container it came in after straining it.

Bad idea dude. You have fresh oil (0 use) and you are going to pour used oil (1-?? uses)? How do you keep track as to which oil needs to be disposed and which still has life in it? Remember, oil breaks down each time you use it, so you have to be careful to keep track of how much life it has left.
