Where's that $4+/gal. gas you've been promising us, Dave?
Election season prompts delay. Wait till January. Happy New Year
besides many stations around the Country did in fact reach around $4 especially on the left coast.
Historically, gas prices (along with interest rates) go up prior to an election. Nice conspiracy theory though. If it is true, then perhaps you could tell us why gas prices went up (not down) prior to the 2004 election?

Since when do Republicans and OPEC have anything to do with one another?
Yet another ignorant post by yet another fiscally ignorant hater.

Dave... you might see prices "low" for the next two years.
Big oil would do that for two years for a chance at another 4 to 6 years of gouging.
If they went right back up after the elections, people would scream. (I would)
But if oil prices are lower for the next two years then its not an issue for 08 at all.

That would be very interesting indeed.
In the meantime Ford, GM and Chysler have taken huge hits continuing to produce gas guzzling SUV monsters after a goodly portion of the U.S. could no longer afford to run them.
We have yet another chance to change to vehicles that get as much mpg or better yet not use oil at all.
Now that gas $ has dropped back the cattle call for an oil alternative will subside by the sheeple

Am I the only one who thinks that ~$3/gallon for gas is a pretty good deal? Consider that you have to find the stuff buried in the ground, sometimes miles under the surface, then work out a way to dig it up, then transport it around the world to a refinery, process it into a usable form, ship it out to a distributor and then to a gas station on nearly every corner in America. And for what stupid people pay for a cellphone ringtone or a cup of coffee, you get something virtually indispensible for life in the US.

I think you've got a point. Still, this is america and you'd think we could find a more efficient way to do this kind of thing, and cheaper would really be nice. I love to drive, but not at $3 bucks a gallon. I'm not sure I'll ever be rich enough to say that $3 a gallon is a good deal.

9-18-2006 Crude oil prices rise
On Friday, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries said fourth-quarter demand for its oil would be 320,000 barrels a day lower than previously forecast, or 28.86 million barrels per day.
Oil prices rose Monday, reflecting speculation that OPEC may trim output to bolster prices amid lower consumption forecasts.
