I just picked up the EVGA 7800GTX KO AC3 Edition for $539 after shipping from Ebay today (last peice I needed). I just don't see spending $750 plus for a 512 card right now. The guy had one more after the one I bought (theres a $25 coupon for Paypal in the description)
From everything I've read, I'd go with those WD4000YR's. I was thinking Raptors when I started buying, but with the performance and storage of these its hard to pass up.

GL man.

for the harddrives, the best deal nowadays is in the 250GB range, and the best I've seen is here:

It's a 250GB WD SATA-150 for $90, and a little under $100 shipped, so you could get a full TERABYTE for the same price as two of the 400GB drives you were talking about on first post.
You could then setup one of the more complicated RAID setups like raid 5, or 0+1. I personally don't use any raid, but that's my preference. The only penalty is space, but there's cages for sale that can take 2 cd/dvd bays and turn it into 3/5HDD bays. I'm looking for one of these myself.

ya, im not that big of a space hog, was thinking of getting the 2 for backup, running raid 1. I have 100 gig in my current rig and thats still not full so im sure 400 gig should last me awhile and it performs really well from reviews. thx for those though any other thoughts let me know

definitely

if that guy said that corsair/asus have been working on that mobo/ram combo for optimum perforamnce, i'd go with that to make it cheaper. 4000 is NOT a bad idea at all though.

get a SMALLER monitor. what's wrong with 24"? aren't u going to be at most 3 feet away? imagine sitting right in front of a t.v. screen. it doesn't stay fun.

the WD RE2 has the same specs (same storage size, 16mb cache, 7200rpm) but it performs a lot better. so not only does it run faster, it has that added 8mb for better performance. and it's not a lot more expensive either.

this is an AWESOME rig if u make it. even if u don't take my points into consideration you will have an outstanding piece of machinery to work with. your prices are great, too. sorry about not having any input on the companies you have in question, i haven't had any business with them yet. enjoy your system and have a wonderful night.
