Ok I read the FAQ

It states in there that a thread will get deleted if it is offensive or if there is a similar locked thread. So you forum people tell me how does a thread that asks how everyone is doing gets deleted. I mean I'm sorry if I'm not accepted
since Ive seen alot more bs threads than mine. I know if your one of the in people this wouldn't have happened.
Its just a shame that since I'm new I get deleted and someone thats been here for a while can say whatever they want and get away with it. If I'm wrong enlighten me please. Thats all. I am a subscriber here as well.

You were not singled out because you are new; your thread was locked because it was an obvious "NEF" thread. We are going to be cracking down on such threads in the future no matter who makes them. We might not get them all in a timely manner and each Moderator might have a slightly different criteria as to what they might consider a "NEF" thread. It is a very subjective area but we will try to be as uniform in our actions as possible.

I have a feeling that such a thread would have turned into a Nef thread allowing other members just to increase their post count. I also believe that such a thread would probably lead to pointless discussion. It is nothing against you personally and it definitely does not have anything to do with you being a new member.

This can not be used as an argument because the Mods can not play favorites on these boards. They are given a job and they do it. If they were to play favorites to subscribers these boards would simply be a mess.

Bull cause there are so many pointless threads and you people know who they are. Countless by the same people.
I do one "how ya doin" and it gets deleted. No offense Minendo. I think I'm in the right though.

I'm not sure about your thread. Since it's deleted, as you say, it's hard to help! Maybe it wasn't you. Maybe someone just crapped in your thread. I've only been around since last December, but in my short time, I've seen even elite's take a vacation. I agree that some people will be treated differently based on their status or time here. But, usually if a long-timer steps out of line, it's probably an "oops" and not because they're a troll so a permanent ban would be wrong. Just a short vacation for them to cool off and think about it. Someone like the short-lived FoolJewAgain, was clearly here to cause trouble and was rightfully sent packing........permanently.

Maggotry brings up a good point. All it takes is one member to crap in the thread and then usually the thread goes to sh!t. When it gets out of hand like that the Mods take action and either lock or delete the thread.

As far as I knew it was very friendly. There was 12 posts on it when I left for my final. I never start a thread so I'm perplexed as to why it got deleted maybe one these mods or whatever can enlighten me.

Best advice, get over it. Tough love, I know, but what loss is it to lose a "how's everybody doin'?" thread? By the same token, you could say goodbye to hundreds of other useless posts. Yours got deleted, fine. In my humble opinion, there are better battles to wage.

My thread was not a setup thread. It was just a how you doin thread. Thats all. It was not personal to anyone.

That was a complete BS move IMO. I think they've been a bit lock-happy 'round here lately, really sucks. If the mods have an agenda that is superceding previous ones (like preserving bandwidth/diskspace/whatever), it should be posted and stickied for everyone to see. If a mod locks a thread, the reason should be given at all times so we can learn why it got locked and avoid doing it again. It seams a bit shady as to what is what anymore.

Well, I happen to be a subscriber.. and quite frankly, if I posted a thread along the lines of "how ya doin" and the Mods locked it, I'd just PM the Mods and ask them rather than wasting time speculating about it in Forum Issues.

Well, to be truthful I don't care about it being locked as it was growing huge and had lived it's time, I only chimed in here to try to make the original poster maybe feel a little less like he was being singled out which seemed to be bothering him.


Also, in matters of what gets locked and what doesn't I think they are bending over backwards to ensure that subscribers are treated no differently than non-subscribers ,which imho is exactly how it should be.

I don't care about my thread being locked either, I just want to know why it gets locked.

No, life should NOT be more fair if you're a subscriber. This was stated when the subscriptions started, and several people said subscribers would want more lenient rules. It was assured over and over that it wouldn't happen, and now, peope whine about how their thread was locked even though they're a subscriber. Big deal if you're a subscriber IMO.

Instagib - Don't take life so personally. I don't remember too many threads like your's ever making it very far because it was just an inventation for a nef fest. Get over it and move on.

And while I'm on this subscriber rant... Why is it that if there's a thread asking if the forums are slow for non-subscribers, that subscribers come in and proudly say nope, but that's because they shelled out some cash? Then, several other subscribers come in and take over the thread by saying "No. I subscribed". If the person wanted to know whether the subscriber server was fast, then he would have asked.

This subscriber thing is slowly getting out of hand with some feeling of superiority by some subscribers.

As always, take my post at face value. I'm not attacking any single person. It was more of a rant. I don't really care too much though, since this really isn't my favorite place to hang around anymore.

Ok I'll settle down. Thanks to everyone who commented. I was just offended because I was bein serious in my thread. I had a good day yesterday. Got 2 A's on my finals and wanted to post a thread. I still beleive in what I said though but WGAF right. Life will go on. It's just that I like you all and want to be accepted like any other human in this world.

Congrats on the good grades.
I wouldn't take the lock personally. Others before you set the precedent for those kinds of threads. Because of the prior abuse, "how are you" thread locks are now the norm.
