yea, i was looking at that, and i think i might get it, but the only issue i have with it is that the front case opens up to the right, so it would be hitting my pc stand, but beggars cant be choosers

Ok, if we put behind the fact that i dont need to upgrade, but since it will only be costing me $200 or so dollars, what do you think of my choice of components?

im still looking into cases, but i changed the PSU to a OCZ 520watt Modular PSU

also, is there a better VGA cooler to get for a 6800GT??

and are the x2's better for gaming then a single core cpu, or are they only good for applications such as encoding or streaming video, etc???

i appreciate the help, and i can tell where ur all coming from, but im only upgrading because it will be cheap and i want to do it one last before i start to run out of money/free time (ie. College).

Thank you

EDIT*

well i asked a friend for some case help, and these are the three he liked the most

First one

Second one

Third one

which one do you guys like the most?

Why not get a quality case and modify it for a truly original look? Get that lian li and (gasp) cut a hole in the side, install some plexiglas, lights, or whatever.

Here's a cool idea that I'm thinking about. Find a carpenter and have him build you a case out of wood. I've seen some like this and while they're not gaudy or flashy, they still look awesome.

Maybe I'm the only one, but if i'm going to get an interesting looking case, i'd also like it to be original. There's probably a thousand joes out there with the cases you linked.

I see alot of people here saying to not upgrade, & while it doesn't make alotta sense to upgrade, i did pretty much what you are doing.

I had a s754 3200+ with that crappy K8V SE Deluxe, & i switched to a s939 Venice 3200+ & MSI K8N Neo2 simply to have some OCing fun & to upgrade my RAM more easily.

My recommendations:
Hideous case IMO, but each to their own.
Get the OCZ Modstream 520W not that TT PSU.
Check the reviews for that DVD-+RW. I've heard sketchy things about the Liteon DVD-+RWs
Otherwise it looks good, though Hitachi would be my last pick for HDDs. Seagate

This one's pretty cool. I also saw an excellent wooden case with beveled glass windows in an article on toms hardware.

If you've got any woodworking skill (or you know a good carpenter), it would be an excellent way to create a showpiece computer.

I have two Liteon burners myself. I don't burn much and normally they work fine, but I had lots of trouble while slipstreaming my Windows CD with SP2. I had to turn CD write speed down to 4x it order for it to burn stably. If you burn excessively, I recommend something else, but for casual music/video burning and just playing CDs and stuff they're great, cheap options.

I still recommend the BenQ DW1620 Pro for DVD-+RWs, though it gets drowned out by the NEC lovers.

It's an excellent drive for DVD & CD burning, & i love the bitsetting/booktype management capabilites it has.
Best of all though is the over-speed burning feature.

Nothing beats burning 8x media @ 12x or 16x with no issues

so, which one of those?

You just love the gaudy cases eh?

Really, a case is something you can pick on your own...everyone has a different style preference.
I like the first one best if i had to pick between those two.

but that was before 939 and PCI-E

so now, im going by the same philosophy, upgrading majorly so in a few years, i can just upgrade peice by peice (maybe a FX-55 in a few years, or a 7800GTX, etc)

everything im upgrading to is entirely new, which is what i want (such as SataII, 939 socket, PCI-E, etc)

so yes, it may seem like a waste, but its the best i can do before i enter a time of life when money will be almost non-exsistant

Well when you go to college you'll be like me and build a SFF anyways... I'd suggest waiting until the summer before college to build a new rig.

You're not a beggar if you're upgrading from an A64 to an A64 :disgust:

I would be closer to qualifying, as I'm running my humble Athlon XP

sounds good

I settled on the Aspire X-Plorer Steel Case - Black/Silver for my case, its the best one i could find that fits what i want

The only other thing i must decided on is whether to light the inside up with Blue CC's or pure White CC's
im leaning towards the pure white ones, as it could make for an awesome look

Well it seems to favor blue already.

I would suggest you stay away from anything that's sick...
