Gee, let's all hope that he has learned to shut up now or we might all get un-banged.

The "big bang" was the result of God speaking, and releasing the Universe into the physical realm.

>>

Pure drivel.

You may think that you're wise, but in reality you've not the faintest clue of what really happened.

And regarding your belief: I still think that Hinduism is more right than 'your' belief. Your god is not all-knowing and all-powerful, he even makes mistakes, which proves that he's not infallible either.

<< Why is this such a mystery? With the Hubble and other long-reaching telescopes, we can see the birth of many universes, ours is but a blip on the scale of space as we know it. >>

Becareful. This is not an accurate statement. With Hubble we can see the "birth" of many stars. There is only one universe that we know of, we cannot observe our universe from the "outside" only the inside. Our earth and all of the planets of our solar system are litteraly solar ashes and can be seen as a flecks of cosmic dust but that is NOT the universe. The universe defines all of observeable space.

<<The universe defines all of observeable space.>>

Yes, as long as you remember that 'all of observable space' is a subset of the universe. We can only directly observe that which occurred after the universe became optically thin, i.e., when matter and radiation decoupled.

<< But don't tell me that I'm going to burn in hell because I don't believe what you believe >>

Red Dawn, I don't recall anyone making such a statement in this thread. You must be referring to the fundamentalists who spout off on tv - great theatrics but little connection to what is actaully taught in the Bible. I see what you're saying though - and those people annoy me just as well. They are the ones who shout that their way is the only way. They are the ones who truly scare me.

I haven't read this entire post, so if someone already said this, forgive me.

The big bang theory doesn't explain everything. Creationism doesn't explain everything. So what? Is it impossible to accept that we just don't know how we got here?

As was the Grand Inquisitor. You are maintaining a great tradition, the next generation off Christians will consider you as one fooled by the devil.

Humans.

He had to exterminate all Humans but a few, because they behaved different from what he had planned. Just read Genesis and enough proof will already be provided.

Man has the freedom to screw things up, royally. And yes, it was necessary to completely wipe out the mess, so that honorable men, could continue, in peace.

Man also has the freedom to rise to the highest mountain.

Was giving man complete freedom a mistake?

No.

Given a valid meaningful definition of god it can be seen as perfect. In my world view god is a universal force more akin to gravity then mankind, this god force is the reason life came about. Therefore like gravity it is perfect as it does what it does perfectly. What does it do? I have no idea, it is simply a force I have created to fill the voids in my knowledge. As man has traditionaly done.

A. I love how all these threads turn into a God bashing fest, the first page tried to stay away from insulting anyone, but then everyone's answere boils down to God is bad which makes science good.

B. I think that science is a religion in itself, i mean look, all of these science buffs are believing and putting their faith in a bunch of theories and non-proven facts that a bunch of people that they will never meet made, now everyone is going to say look at all the proven facts and all that, but still your putting a lot of faith in the whole big-bang theory with little facts except what a group of scientists decided to tell everyone, it seems that you people are more of a religion that you want to believe, it almost seems that a bunch of people in here have some sort of fear for religion,

bigdog,

<<...I think that science is a religion in itself...>>

Your paradigm can lead you to no other insight?

Not much of an insight.

Don't you think it's a little obstuse to claim that rationalism is irrational?

You da man.

<<that a bunch of people that they will never meet made>>

That may be true for you, but to assume it is true for everyone here is, well, naive.

And for my own edification, what exactly is a 'non-proven fact'?

it seems all those years of religion have screwed with your brain big time.

1. All these theories ant "non-proven" facts show real tangible results. YOUR high standard of living is a direct result of them.
You know what E = mc^2 is? It relates the mass defect. Einsteins work made the atomic bomb possible, which brought nuclear energy. Are you trying to tell me that the Abomb is a hoax, because it is based on einstien's work, which is theoretical?
Or perhaps you would like to tell me why two atomic clocks, one at sea level and one on a fast moving plane will not have matching times. According to you that's gotta be a hoax by those evil scientists too, and not proof of the THEORY of relativity, right?
2. If you bothered to take youhead outta your ass, you will realize that there is PROOF that supports the big bang. It wasnt two scientists who got togerther and made it up, it was the work of hundreds of dedicated scientists over the course of several generations.
3. we have no fear of religion, only pity for its followers, like you and Palco.

Hi Bigdog nice to see you back

Why do people say this, exactly how am I placing any faith in science? I have studied it, I see it everyday, I use it everyday. Does it take faith to watch the sun rise? Does it take faith to turn on the computer? Where am I placing my faith?

The only faith I have, is that the driver of that car hurtling towards me at 150MPH (75 each) values his life as much as I value mine and will stay in his lane.

Please tell me just what is this thing you call science?

please don't pity me, i mean this is exactly what I mean, a religious person says something and is attacked from all sides,

Piro why don't you go to give your little song and dance about the wonders of nuclear power to all the people who died from the two nukes dropped in Japan, what about those people in chernobyl, yeah go nuclear power, a nuclear war is going to end all of our lives so i guess is score one for the scientists right

And isn't the bible the work of hundreds of people over generations, so the bible and the theory of the big bang are just as feasible according to your logic

look at another thread here, there's a fun little proof that says 0=1, this just shows that math and science can be bent in order to fit the needs of whoever is using it, care to explain why 0!=1, it makes no sense, it just makes everything else easier to work with

oh and i saw something on tv about a man whos iq was off the charts and he spent his whole life writing a book proving that god existed, i'll try to dig it up for you, but tell me why this book is totally wrong and can't possibly be right, but all your little proofs are absolutly perfect

And it is fear, trust me, you are afraid of what you can't explain, your simple mind can never understand something that you can't put on paper or write in an equation so you laugh it off as something an uneducated person would only believe in and you attack anyone stupid enough to believe in it, your pathetic, absolutely pathetic, i don't pity you, i'll save my pity for someone who deserves it

RossGr we meet again

obviously there are plenty of parts of chem, bio, phy that are absolutly true, what i can't understand is why some people can place their faith so easily into an equation, and then make fun of, and laugh at people who believe in god, i don't see that much of a difference between it

edit: i have to go eat, so say any shizznit you want and i'll reply in like a half hour

because it's illogical and absolutely no proof to back any of it up

or maybe you think people should just never question anything...

HAHA. You're so dumb, its actually funny!

1. If it wasnt for clean nuclear power, we would have an even more polluted evironment. Some countries like France depend up to 80% on nuclear power. Where would we be without it? take a look at california, and you might get a clue. Blackouts, energy shortages etc etc.

2. It could be, if it wasnt so full of contradictions and absurdities that its not funny, but pathetic that anyone will believe a word.

3. Don't try to understand things, which are beyond you intellectual ability. That 'proof' had a mistake, which you had to look for very closely to see.

4. so he spent his life proving it, but never proved it, right? well do try to find the book. PM when you do (or when pigs start to fly, whichever comes first).

5. How ironic. Someone who has never even made a small attempt to understand science tells me I have a simple mind, because I don't believe in a simple thing such as god?

6. I find it most hypocritical that someone who depends on science for their existance and uses it, can critisize it so easily and paint such a disgusting picture of scientists.
