STFU. You're dumb.
Brickz were shat! Besides, he got 10 feet off my rear bumper twice for about 30 feet each time. WTF is he doing? They don't provide optical coverage for cops these days, so he's blind as fuck?? Shit! Get some glasses or contacts, bro!

If you aren't guilty, there's nothing to worry about. I don't care when a cop gets behind me an pulls my plate. If he pulls me over there usually isn't anything he can cite me with.

First of all, as everyone else said, get a license and if you don't have one... don't drive.

Secondly, I will say that I agree with you on your argument... despite the above. Of the few instances which I have been pulled over, it seems to be quite often that an officer pulls the same ridiculous method of rapid acceleration getting all the way up on my ass (within a few feet) and then slamming on his brakes and driving that same distance on my ass for 10-15 seconds. My guess is they're trying to get a nervous reaction from a drug user or something, but who knows. All I know is that it is one of the more nerve racking things to deal with and for someone who has only been pulled over for speeding, it seems like way too much bullshit for them to be doing to solicit a reaction. I'd be inclined to brake considerably and watch him slam into my ass for being a dipshit, but I am sure that he'd have cause for doing what he did and be able to get me in trouble for rapid braking, so I leave it be. Long story short, traffic cops can be a bunch of douchey assholes. Problem is, they probably deal with a number of douchey assholes during the day, week, year, that they just probably don't care how you feel about it.

Automatically pulled for medical reasons. When a doctor diagnoses or treats you in my state for certain medical conditions (e.g. that can result in loss of consciousness or altered mental status), he is legally obligated to report the diagnosis or status to the DMV. I'm in the process of obtaining medical clearance buts its a long fucked-up process.

I really hope you don't injure or kill anyone other than yourself when you fall asleep at the wheel.

You were around a known bar circuit.

There is your probable cause. Possible drunk driver. And dont give me some bullshit "it was only 11:30pm" ... people get drunk at 11:30pm yanno.

A traffic stop requires reasonable suspicion, not probable cause. Probable cause is the much higher standard required to search or arrest. In any case, simply driving near a "known bar circuit" doesn't meet either standard.

Of course there is no standard of proof at all required for an officer to just follow a car or conduct a non-intrusive investigation, nor should there be. As long as the police aren't inconveniencing people with unwarranted stops I don't care what they do.

I really hope you don't injure or kill anyone other than yourself when you fall asleep at the wheel.

Insurance typically won't cover vehicles driven by unlicensed drivers, so when the OP does fall asleep and crash into someone his victim will be doubly screwed.

So this guy has narcolepsy and doesn't have a license, and he's bitching about a cop doing his job?

I dislike cops as much as the next guy, but OP you're an idiot.

If you have nothing to hide I always like to hit my brakes when he's on my ass makes them pull you over right away and you can let them know they were following too closely.

I was coming back from the supermarket tonight, 11:30pm (they close at midnight). Tooling down the highway, driving the speed limit. Saw the cops on the right shoulder up about one mile away with their lights on. There was a tractor trailer about 30 feet ahead of me, in the nearest lane. Figured he'd want to move over, so I changed lanes to let him slide over (toward the left).

Passed the cop, changed lanes back (so did the big rig). I got over to the right hand lane because my exit was coming up, using my blinkers and changing lanes safely. Just as I took the exit ramp, I notice this car in my rear view coming up on me very aggressively. Looking at the headlight and grill configuration, I can tell its a Ford Crown Victoria, and then half-way up the exit ramp, I can see the lights on top (but they were off). Its either the Highway Patrol or my local PD, they have nearly identical cars.

I figured, the way he came up on me so fast, he was responding to another call or complaint. So I wasn't worried about it, I figured he would just pass me. I turned and crossed the overpass. He got right on my ass. I was like..."WTH?" There is absolutely no reason for him to be scrutinizing me, at all. I did nothing unsafe or any moving violations, everything on my car is in order, so I was still expecting him to blow by me at any time, on the way to some other thing. He had multiple opportunities, there was not a single oncoming car in the other direction.

But then he follows me for like another two miles and two turns, passed about six cross streets. Fucker. He never pulled me over but bricks were being shat because I don't have a license.

I hate it when their only reason for scrutinizing you is "Ahh yes, a car. And its driving, on the road. And driving the speed limit, no less. Very suspicious. Good enough reason to run his plates and follow behind him for three fucking miles."

for posterity

So because you're an unlicensed asshole... the COP is in the wrong?

Damn. Wish he pulled you over... then we wouldn't be wasting our time on this lame rant... as you'd be in jail.

Exactly - OP should be in jail.

Yes, the State should give me a driver's license already. No question there. I shouldn't be driving, the world should be better than it is, and cops shouldn't be making outwardly good drivers shat brickz just cuz its Sunday...or whatever reason gives them an erection.

If you don't have a license, you shouldn't be driving, end of story. What you were doing was not only illegal, but immoral as well.

Again, they MUST have a reason for scrutinizing you. And he couldn't possibly have known I don't have a license. Pay attention.

It wouldn't matter if I had a license. I would still be uncomfortable or unnerved when he had zero reason to be scrutinizing me like that. In fact, I've had this happen before when I DID have a license, and still felt the same way.

Yes, he could know. Was the car yours? If so, he could know almost immediately that you are unlicensed. My buddy is a cop, and has told me all kinds of fun stories about pulling people over and the info they know about the potential driver before they even approach your vehicle. * All based on the plates/registration.

Oh great, your buddy is a cop. My brother is a cop, my uncle is a retired sheriffs deputy, another uncle is BATF/Treasury, my nephew is US Army Special Forces, a buddy from HS is a warrant officer/instructor for the US Coast Guard and coach for NCAA firearm teams, as well as senior instructor at several schools such as S&W and Blackwater. Blah blah blah, and no, the car is not mine nor registered to me.

But who knows, if I pulled down what the average cop does along with health insurance and disability (that they don't contribute a nickel to), I might be in a better position like that NJ cop who is on permanent disability, makes over $60,000+ per year in disability payments for over 10 years, and yet still competes in Triathlons and Ironman competitions, because he is permanently "disabled" (he had a torn rotator cuff that still gives him problems).

So what do all of these cop buddies think about you driving around a car that isn't yours, nor registered in your name, while not owning a license due to the fact it was taken away because you represented a danger to other drivers?

Knowing my situation, their response is usually "you have to do what you have to do." Not everyone is so fortunate to land on the publicly funded unionized teet, with all of its largess and lifelong security in the event you get a hernia or pulled muscle that might bother you from time to time, thus paying out lifelong permanent disability at full wage, pension, and health insurance.

I was a member of AFSCME, where I got a royal fucking because I had a REAL medical problem as opposed to being a drunk or a drug addict.

Sounds to me like you're just pointing your finger at other people when the problem is yourself. How about you point that finger up your ass next time and save us the trouble of your whiny bitch-fest about how cops get away with this and that, meanwhile you break the law knowingly putting other drivers at risk because of your ego.

Can you point me to a law that requires a cop to have a reason for doing absolutely nothing to you?

god i hate traffic cops. i had a similar thing happen to me over the weekend. a cop followed my car for 2 blocks looking for something to pull me over for. finally he turned his lights on because he said he saw the light from my cell phone. i was on the way to the airport too so i really didnt have time to sit on the side of the road for 10 minutes. i didnt get a ticket but still it wasted my time while he ran my plates and license. so theyre laying off teachers, cutting services and raising taxes everywhere while there are cops making $550,000 a year in the bay area doing this to people?????????????

meanwhile there are cops doing this:

http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/20...e-commander-arrested-on-drug-dealing-charges/

they should bury these bastards up their necks and let junkies throw rocks at their heads

God I hate double posts. I had a similar thing happen to me over the weekend. This douche DPed drivel in a thread just looking for someone to troll. Finally he found a cop thread: ding ding ding! I was just browsing so I didn't have time to find a link to completely parody his post but it still wasted my time reading it. So they're banning trolls like casiotech while lame trolls like this guy stay around?????????????

Meanwhile there are trolls doing this:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=31276609&postcount=20

They should ban each for a week and then force them to have a troll avatar when they come back.

Have you been a member of a public employees union? Have you had a disability claim? I didn't think so.

The officer could have had any number of reasons to investigate further. He did so without even the hassle of pulling you over. In addition, you were driving without a license...... and you are mad about the cop? Sheesh. You're lucky he didn't feel like hassling you, sounds like he's was doing his job.

This!

Life in the US is built around personal transportation. Until our government backs off gas and builds a proper public transportation system, I do not begrudge anyone driving without all their arbitrarily bureaucratic "documents" in place.

The few times I have had a police officer follow my vehicle for longer than a brief introductory period, I will pull off to the side of the road. The officer can either pull me over or drive by. It does get nerve wracking when they follow for so long so I put a stop to it.

BLAH BLAH. I had a REAL medical problem as opposed to being a drunk or a drug addict.

You are bragging about having a real medical problem that disqualifies you for operating a motor vehicles, yet you continue to drive. You are no better then the drunk drivers that you despise. At least the drunks don't come in here and complain about the cops almost pulling them over.
