ok monitors revisted - questions for ya

hi i bought a LG 221U monitor (21 inch) and at this size which i love the non flat screen really shows so i am returning it for a new one and have a couple of questions. now i know that people like trinitron tubes but i have read the posts and see alot of badmouthing about the brands - some like sony somje hate it , same with KDS which is cheaper. is trinitron really better than say a Veiwsonic PF815 which is true flat also?
I went to the store and looked at a trinitron and i saw the 2 lines and i only noticed them when i opened up wordpad so i dont think it would bug me too much.
anyway i am looking right now either at a KDS 21inch AV something or the veiwsonic PF815 and would like some comments or alturnatives. i cant really pay for a sony

Some people hate the aperture grill wire shadows and steer clear well away from Trinitron tubes for this sole reason.

That's the price to pay for Aperture Grill monitors as opposed to Shadow Mask monitors.

I'll never go back to shadow mask b/c of the Trinitron's great clarity. But to compare shadow mask to aperture grill is like comparing apples to oranges.

Same w/brand names. Some will swear by their Sony Trinitrons for their name-brand quality, others will do the same for KDS and their low prices.

I for one will go for low price. Some say that, one will pay extra for shipping it back to manufacturer for defects.

I've had my KDS 17" AV-7T for well over a year w/no problems (yet).
But I've noticed that they could run hot if not in a well-ventilated area. Maybe that's probably why my model was discontinued in place for the AV-7TF. I plan to get maybe a 21" model later on this year.

Do a search for KDS monitors and/or Sony monitors in the forums and you'll be swamped with tons of feedback on this subject.

I've also heard that certain brands of Samsung monitors (probably with Trinitron-like tubes) are also very good. Don't quote me on that b/c I haven't researched those brands.

It all comes down to what looks best to you. I bought my Samsung 900NF after reading reviews and posts made my people who already had them...and I liked the specs of it. Normally I would want to look at the monitor before buying but there is no store in my area that carries this monitor. I've seen Sony E400, Viewsonic PF790(which I almost bought), and the KDS-AV195....and honestly i can't really tell the difference between any of them. I did, however, notice that the sony E400 has a bit softer image than my samsung...and that's probably due to the difference in the tube...since samsung is using the mitsubishi tube....but definitely go for the flatscreens based on aperture grills...I don't think I'll ever go back to conventional CRTs anymore.....

My 17" Sony E200 is far easier to read at 1280x1024 than my 19" Viewsonic PS790(shadowmask).

I'm gonna replace the Viewsonic with a Sony E400.

both monitors are apature grille , just one is a trinitron tube and the other i guess isnt.
So does anyone have a flat aperture grill monitor that isnt a trinitron type tube?

sorry i couldnt reach the kds website today for some reason or another but that has the specs on it
