I notice threads from time to time asking the Intel vs. AMD for crunching question.
I run AMD on my machines (see MyRigThingy) and a friend of mine just built an Intel system (P4PE w/P4 2.4 512 RDRAM all stock speed/volt I believe)
I crunch DF and persuaded him to do it also. Once he had it set up, I explained how to get a benchie using dfGUI.
the results surprised me! (totally unscientific test of one... YMMV)
I bench out at 6066 folds/hr. and his P4 benched at 5980?
I realize that DF is pretty heavily FPU dependent which leans towards AMD, but I really was expecting the P4 to be faster than me. I knew not to expect any
earth shattering differences since I am OC'd to nearly 2200+ PR, but.... was forced to realize all the P4 hype is fun.... but that's about it
So, again with my plea...... C'mon guyz... can we PLEASE get a real step up in CPU performance so I can do another upgrade
