Ok, this is a weird one

Just got a call & a friend of a friend is having trouble surfing online.

His pc connects just fine & he can send & recieve email just fine.

But he cannot get any web pages to display.
All he gets is "this page cannot be displayed errors".

Im way to far away to physically look at this pc, so does anyone have any ideas / solutions?

Only thing I can think of is his server may be down, but his email works.

Any security setting changes that may cause this?

- is he running a firwall of some kind? behind a router or something?

- check the LMHOSTS file, maybe some program messed it up

- in tcp/ip settings, if he is on dial-up he probably doesnt need WINS resolution, it may have become enabled somehow, disable it
