Gee that hasn't been mentioned on every page of threads yet. As also hasn't been pointed out before, blocking out ads just makes it so they have to work harder to get revenue which just makes the ads worse and the quality less, so maybe declaring that you're doing it isn't the best idea.

Well I am back(not that anyone missed me).......I managed to stay away from this place for a good long time. I found other communities that I will continue to be a large part of.

I am still pissed over this situation. The only thing that changed was the fact that I landed a job. I had been unemployeed for almost a year. So with my new job, I decided that I could afford to subscribe.

I do not agree with the people that are filtering the ads out. I understand the reasoning behind it but I still think it is wrong(along with being counterproductive). I also think it is wrong for AT to continue having the ads placed where they are. I hope that at some point AT will reevaluate their decision on this.

If I had not landed a job then I wouldn't be back here. I don't know if many people left over this but I did. After my 6 month sub is up then I will reevaluate my views on the situation.

It's not "wrong" for them to place ads wherever they want. It's just not something you like, and it's their decision whether to consider the opinions of users in the matter. It might be stupid to ignore the complaints, but it's their site.

The fact that you've subscribed now would seem to validate their opinion though. I don't know either how many people might have left, but how many instead made the decision to subscribe? How many others just deal with the ads? How many are filtering them out, and had already been filtering so it doesn't make any difference? I subscribed (partly for the ads, partly to see if it's any faster, which it's not, and partly because the site's code screws up the preservation of text entries if you click a link and are using proxomitron).

That's two people. How many more?
