ok, this is really starting to annoy me: Pro2A w/ duron 600

at the moment i'm running my duron 600 at 6.5x108 =715 at 1.7V. now if i try to set the multiplier on my pro2a to 7, and the fsb to 100, it won't post. when i flashed the overclocking BIOS to get the 1.85V option, if i set the multiplier to 8, it wouldn't post, but if it set the fsb to 108 and the multiplier to 7.5, to get 810mhz it would be just fine. i think i could get more out of this duron except this board doesn't like multipliers :| what's up with this? :|

Perhaps unlock the L7's. I know I got problems with anything at 9.5 and above. I used the OC'er BIOS and it still wouldn't POST. I closed the L7's and now can boot 10x100 with no problems. Seems you need to close the L7's in order for the mainboard to start out the CPU at a higher voltage.

dont the L7's make default voltage 1.85?

thats going to be a last reasort because that means taking off my FOP38 and believe me, that thing was a major pain in the as$ to get on

Yes, connecting the L7s will make the board think that the chip requires 1.85v.

No way dude. I have a FOP38 and it was easy if you remove the fan first. Even though it sets the voltage at 1.85 you don't have to set it there. Right now I am running 103x10 at 1.85v (1.8 in the BIOS) and it is running smooth. I saw no other way to correct the problem besides some miracle BIOS update. Like I said it sometimes would POST at 10x100 and sometimes it wouldn't even with the 10b14 BIOS and vcore at 1.85 (1.91-1.92 actual voltage). But now I can run 10x100 at 1.75 (1.8) and it POSTs everytime. I can run rc5 and seti@home for hours with no lockups. Get the strength to just remove the FOP38 and close the l7's and your problems should go away
