I am finally saying it. WE suck. I mean it. Look at what the DPCs are doing to us. They are doing what we USED to do to other teams. They know we are scared. We should be because people are not doing their part. We have 20,000 members and 2000 cracking.

I now have 3 computers cracking and I am a poor poor poor college student. Check my stats. I have turned my cracking into overdrive. I suggest everyone else do the same.

My stats......

Lets put us BACK at number one.

Sorry, man, but our individual cracking rates are not the problem. On a per contributor basis we submit quite a bit more blocks than the DPC. Our problem is in the number of users. The DPC have approximately twice the number of daily contributors as we do, and that's why they're kicking our butts so badly.

What we need is not to turn our individual cracking rates into overdrive (although it certainly does help), but rather to get more PEOPLE. You assimilate a computer, you get just that: a computer. You assimilate a person, you get his/her computer, plus any others they may have in their house, plus their friends computers, etc. That's what the DPC's did, and it's working great for them

Engine, that's what I've always believed. Assimilating computers is great--assimilating PEOPLE is much, much better.

I've seen this statement flying by a number of times here lately, and I don't think it's neccesarily true. In TA, as in DPC, there's a lot of subteam stuff going on. As these teams consist of (sometimes) large numbers of people flushing on only one address, one can't prove your statement just from D-net's numbers. There is no hard correlation between e-mail adresses flushed to (==A), and people flushing (==P). It is just very probable (but not certain) that P > A.

Still, your point is probably very valid: to get people into your team is the best way to crack more blocks. Good luck!

Is there nothing we can do to try and get the members who aren't active anymore to start back? I'm not talking about spamming but what would be wrong with looking at the list of current members and if you see them posting in the other forums just casually asking hey aren't you a member of TA <whatever project>. Try to strike up a conversation about the project if they're interested and maybe convincing them to start cracking again.

ZpottrDPC:
Good point about the miniteam stuff. Still, though, look at the number of email addresses submitting blocks yesterday.
DPC: 1342
TA: 650

Relative to those numbers (for TA, at least) the percentage of people in miniteams is pretty much insignificant. How many miniteams do we have? Five, six? Let's say there's ten people submitting under each miniteam, that makes 60 people in six email addresses. Add those sixty to TA's total, while keeping the DPC's the same, and we're still ~650 people short. :-/

ZpottrDPC, Engine is right, we only have a few mini-teams, and I think the Federation has the most members (not sure). Either way the number of people in a Mini-team is very small here. That means to do our daily output we are more PC power per person than DPC is. Still, 1200 members with less CPU power is more than less members with more CPU power

Anandtech indeed has per user a high keyrate but DPC has more members and thats makes the difference. If I just take the first 650 members of both AT and DPC and compare the average block per user what will happen?

stats on 20-09-00
anandtech had 2357.9 blocks per user. (1.532.625 blocks / 650 users)
DPC had 3042 blocks per user. (1.977.949 / first 650 users)

We have more members but our first 650 members do more per user that your 650 members.

Well.... yeah. That was exactly my point. As far as the taking the top 650 people in the DPC and comparing it against all of the daily contributors of AT, well, that just illustrates my point better. If you assimilate people, some of them are going to get the stats bug and become big-time contributors. Just look at Russ. What if someone had convinced him to let them put the client on his home machine for them, instead of convincing Russ to sign up and have his own stats?
