Hi there,

As many people here, I collect DVDs... and over the years, I've amassed a good number, including bootlegs and films from other regions.

I'm wonderiong what's currently the best software/application that would allow me to make a complete catalogue with everything I have. I know there are some on-line based systems which allow you to use the ISBN number, but since some of my stuf is bootlegs and home-made discs, these would not be included.

Short of using Excel or something along these lines, what's my best bet for making this list as quickly and painlessly as possible?

Agreed. DVD Profiler is excellent. It's a standalone app, but it also allows you to backup your collection online (see the link in my sig for the online collection page).

"Short of using Excel or something along these lines" i think access would fall on these lines.

Check out collectorz.com ... dvd profiler is another good one. What are you looking to do, keep track of your dvds or make a pretty list w/ images.. or maybe you're looking to do both.

Actually, mitgsx is probably right... something like access or excel would give you the best flexibility. I prefer excel with some macros that will grab information from imdb.com and insert it, as well as export to text+html files. beats paying for some software imo.

I just use Excel even if it's not pretty, but it does what I want it to do and it's pretty small. I just make my title column alphabeticalize and it sorts everything as it should

Anita, OT really... How do you store a big collection? Do you use bookcases from The Home Depot, special racks, or what?

I found some nice and cheap Mylex bookshelves in Wal-Mart (of all places), which can store 120 DVDs (regular-size cases)... three of those can be piled one on top of the other, in a regular-sized apartment, and you can cover an entire wall with them... modular design at its best.

Thank you. The family collection has expanded beyond the current storage capacity.
