Okay so i need to know...

my stepup lasts till 25th of october.
i did my research, and im guessing the 9800s or 8900s whichever it is theyre called, come out early nov (possibly early october, but that would mean that jesus actually likes me).

in any case, i have an 8800gts 320mb.
i want to do the stepup on the last possible day (ie 25th of october). im curious if anyone has any information at all as to what will be the latest and greatest on exactly that day? (or slightly earlier).

and if there ISNT something out (as in 8800 ultra is still the best), would you recommend i just sell my gts and wait for an 8900 or whatever the next big thing happens to be?

Don't count on anything until at least November. G92 just taped out and it takes 120 days to start manufacturing them.

Unless you get a KILLER deal on an 8800Ultra, the 8800GTX is the better deal.

So you'd sell your GTS now, and be out a gaming card for 3+ months to save a few bucks? No thank you. But that's just me.

nono sorry i said it completely wrong
my 2 options
1) if g92 is out by oct, i will get it 100%
2) if its not out i have 2 more options:
1) stepup to 8800gtx
2) keep my card until g92 comes out, sell my 8800, get a g92.

Even with EVGA's step-up program I would go with option 2. I've heard good and bad things about the program but I would not want to be without a video card (or your entire system) for a two week period unless you have a filler card.

Yeah, I would say option 2 as well. eVGA asks a hefty premium for their step up cards. Sometimes easily over 100.00 more than you can get the exact same card at an online retailer for.

Yup. eVGA is asking 599.00 (Newegg wants 514.99 AR) for the standard GTX. Not Superclocked or KO even.

KO, they want 649.00 ........... OMFG.

For the Superclocked, they want 629.00 ............ omfg.

but im thikning like this:
if i sell my gts in 2 months time, i'll probably get 200 cad MAX for it.
i paid 320 for it cad (approx 300 USD) which would ALL go towards the new vid card....
i guess i'll have to wait and see.
