Old build, Power-up issue.

Alright. I just got another hard drive for my build that i planned to move windows 7 over to and use as a primary, then keep my old Terrabyte for games so that i could save space. upon entering the computer, i broke one of the power cables to a hard drive. decided to tape it back together, since it seemed simple and like it would work. after putting everything together, i press power button and fans spin then quickly everything dies. the computer would not power up.. i changed the power cables around, to avoid using the bad power cable, even went back to completely normal stuff and removed tape, and i tried a different power supply, all resulted in the same thing; quick power, no turn on. PLEASE HELP! specs below, fast help is appreciated.

Processor: AMD FX 8120
Memory: 8GB (4x2) GsKill Ripjaws memory (1600)
Mobo: ASrock N68C-GS FX
PSU:APEVIA-ATX 700W
Graphics: HIS AMD Radeon HD 7770

using the 2nd power supply

1) disconnect both hard drives and try posting..
if that works.
2) try a different sata port on the board, when reconnecting the hard drives to rule out a damaged sata port. Reconnect only 1 drive at first.

If none of that works, try clearing/resetting the CMOS on the board...

You may have damaged the board or one of the components with the bad cable.. so if none of that works, you may want to pull all of the components, and just try posting with the cpu/hsf, psu, board, 1 stick of ram, and the graphics card.. to rule out the other components being damaged...

I tried all of the steps you just mentioned... i think it is the board.. i unplugged the 4-pin CPU connector and the computer satrted up, but obviously didnt POST without the CPU. i am just oging to return the Mobo with my year warranty and have it replaced.. then see if that fixes the problem.
