Shame that PCs don't work with gamepads, eh?Originally posted by: JackBurton
You can, but practically speaking, most won't/don't. If you're using a 50+ screen, you're most likely sitting on a couch, and quite frankly, a gamepad is more comfortable to use (for most) in this set up.

Cost being the primary concern and not just the trouble of upgrading....
If you are employed checkout Microsoft's Work at Home program (I believe that is what it is called) via your employer (heavily discounted Microsoft software, if your company is a member). If you are a student, checkout the MSDNAA program to see if your university is a member, I got Vista business (amongst other Microsoft software)for free through it.

Yes...well, I believe they were using the SWAT4 enginge, but in the end, that's a modified version of the Vengance engine, which in turn is Unreal 2.5.
Or something like that. I just want the damn game to come out already!
BioShock was originally going to run on an enhanced version of the Tribes Vengeance engine, the highly modified version of Unreal Engine 2.5 technology used by previous Irrational titles Tribes: Vengeance, SWAT 4, and SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate. In an interview at E3 in May 2006, Levine has revealed that "we've moved to Unreal Engine 3.0, we've done a lot of modifications on top of it," particularly to the way the engine handles water effects, which he claims will be very impressive, "We've hired a water programmer and water artist, just for this game, and they're kicking ass and you've never seen water like this."[16]
BioShock will utilize the DirectX 10 feature set when available, but it will also run on older DirectX 9 hardware.[17]

I just hope it doesn't suffer the same fate as SS2 - critics loved it, game buyers relatively lukewarm towards it. I get the sense that they're trying to stave that off by taking a more "mainstream" approach with its marketing... "FPS 2.0" and all of that. Hope it works. Having a game like this become a commercial success will be good for gaming.

Minimal and recommended specifications are mentioned here.
8600 is one weak-ass DX10 cardRecommended System Requirements:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo processor
System RAM: 2GB
Video card:
DX9: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT or better)
DX10: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or better
if that is "recommended", a GTX will get full details
[doubtful]
-i wouldn't go by the "min-recommended"
