That said, I empathize with the reasons why many in the 2K forums are stating just that, but da rules is da rules.

Who said that ?

No one here has....yet. However, over on the 2K forums, nearly every other post, in the thread you linked in the video forum, did. So, I'm just trying to give everyone here a heads up.

Ok sorry for the miscommunication. I thought PSA was a username.

Actually it does have securom authentication.

AFAIK it doesn't have the 2 installs limit.

Edit: just read a steampowered thread that says it does. WTF, this is getting to be farcical

Wait, people are wanting to pirate the game because of a few design flaws that will likely be fixed in patches in the near future?

I swear, people need to step back and just enjoy the game.

Do any of you watch Flight of the Conchords on HBO? All this 2KAUS crap seems very reminiscent of the treatment that the Aussies got outside their consulate in NYC at the hands of Bret, Jemaine, and my fav comedian, Aziz Ansari. Flip 'em the bird!

People posted a bunch of screen shots of the message they received after the 2 install limit was reached. You can probably still activate it manually by calling it in, it is just the principle that has them up in arms, I think. I guy said he put it on his and his son's systems, but his was choppy play wise, so he did a fresh install, and got the over the limit error. I'm wondering if he violated the EULA just by putting it on his son's system too? Isn't it single user, with his son counting as a second user? Just curious, no BFD IMO.

So what happens if you UNinstall the game before reformatting your system? Does it free up one of your 2 activations? I already have to deauthorize my computer on Itunes and WMP before reinstalling, it only takes 5 seconds to delete teh game from Steam, I could live with that.

I believe so but you must be connected to the internet I think. So if your internet is down your out of luck.

My understanding is that it can be installed on 2 separate machines (reading the mobo S/N or something) or on 2 separate OSs, each with (theoretically) unlimited installs.

If it's just 2 installs period, then that's just sh1t. I'd like to sell this thing when I'm done with it, which I absolutely should be able to do without having to worry about whether the buyer gets a 'dead' game that has run out of activations.

Are you talking about the steam version or the retail bought version ?

I believe its 2 installs period no matter what then you have to manually activate it over the phone everytime or at least call ever time you run out of the first 2 if they reset it.

Now I've just read that it allows you to have no more than 2 installs active at the same time, which means that you'd need to deactivate the previous installs first (if you already have 2 activated).

That seems to be a more sane solution, if true.

Is that just STEAM or retail too? How would you deactivate retail? is there a option provided for that? Call it in? Damn, they should have clarified all this weeks ago at minimum.

What is this Securom online thing? Is it different than the usual Securom CD checking software? Does it also install rootkits on your PC?

I have to think it would help if they would release a statement on how exactly it works. I have no problem uninstalling it before reinstalling Windows, if that would give me back one of my activations.

Here's the thing, I have to call and activate Office XP and 2003 about 6 times a year between my 4 systems, I really don't mind doing it for a game every other time I install, if that's all that needs to be done. If I could uninstall Office and have it automatically reactivate online when I reinstall, I'd be one happy dude.

If they had, they would have sold a lot less copies at launch. Which works best for 2K?

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

What happens if your hard drive just dies one day ? You then lose that one of your activations. You now only have one left because you weren't about to uninstall it before your hard drive dies. You can't predict this will happen. It just happens most of the time.

Yep.

I bet you all in the UK, that had to delayed a few days to be released, are not happy. This way you all were able to find out about all these problems before buying it so you could make a decision on if you wanted to play the game with all the problems it has. I bet a lot of people won't buy the game and will just wait till its $30 or less on steam like Half life 2.

Yes, that's correct. According to a 2K rep (posted here, last post on page), as long as you uninstall Bioshock properly, you'll be able to reactivate normally.

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. Who cares if the game look perfect and you see exactly on widescreen what you would on a 4:3 screen, if you have fun playing the GAME, what difference does it make?

The textures are really taking away from the game experience? Give me a break.

Here comes the inevitable person or two who's so obtuse he expects everyone else to precisely share his own expectations about what matters and what doesn't. It matters to me, a lot, otherwise I wouldn't be talking about it. As games get better and better the graphics do as well, and just as its tough to get myself into HL1 because the now-crappy graphics just don't suck me in, so it is the case with this game as well. It's an odd mishmash of the good and the "oh wow that looks bad".
