Old or new model Toshiba 3TB

Want to purchase a new HDD for my old PC.

I can purchase the old model DT01ACA300 (AFAIK a rebranded Hitachi) for less than the new model HDWD130EZSTA.

Can't understand the real differences, worth pay the premium for the new one?

If the old is best, it's still best vs Seagate Barracuda and WD Blue?

Old model may have a longer warranty, depending on the store. New model only has a 2 year warranty.

My opinion is if performance is a consideration look into the platter density, otherwise go by the warranty length. http://rml527.blogspot.com/ edit: looks like they are both 1TB/platter likely only label, warranty, and maybe firmware revisions being slightly different.
I'm convinced that reliability is likely about the same. I'd personally pick either over a blue.

Ok my options are now reduced to the old Hitachi DT01ACA300 or the Seagate ST3000DM001.
Any reason for one or the other?

The reliability record of the ST3000DM001 isn't exactly stellar.. I'd go with the Hitachi.

Just a confirmation of what I was thinking. Performance wise appear to be in line or just slightly below, so no pbm. Thanks all!
