old P3 mobo makes continous non stop beeps on bootup

It's an award bios chip, whe I hit power it just runs, no scren and continuous non stop beeping.

Any one know the problem?

Also, I just swapped out psu, still same beeps.

See which type of bios you have (Award or AMI normally) and then look up the code. You should be able to google for it. My first guess would be it doesnt like the memory installed though.

Generally, beeps on an older board indicate a memory or video problem. If those are known to be good, then there usually isn't much else you can do.

The best way for diagnosing a problem, would be to disconnect or remove all cables, cards and devices except the cpu, memory and video card. If it still does it doing this bare boot, then its toast.

If it's a continuous sound, like a European police siren, then it's a motherboard issue. Maybe Voltage Regulator or other, basically non-repairable, problem. BIOS beep codes have a limited number of patterns, like short-long-short-long-long, etc.

You could try looking up "Beep codes" in your motherboard manual. One of my friends was having a similar issue with their P3 system where it would give off a certain combination of beeps and it ended up being the CMOS jumper was missing. Good luck.
