Hi, I've had a problem for years now... I've been doing rather ok with a 2nd HD and Win Me on it to access the CD Writer, but I'm tired of it... Reboot, burn, reboot, etc...
The problem is this : I've had an external Philips CDD 3660 CD Writer (based on the 3610), which connects to the PC througth the Parallel Port (LPT1). It came with drivers from Shuttle (version 1.34) so that Windows recognizes it. The problem is, XP doesn't even let me install the drivers. Compatibility mode, etc, nothing. It says something about 16-bit software not being able to be installed.
I've searched the net countless times, I even installed drivers for other drives that were based on the same drive (HP, etc...), nothing done. Doesn't recognize anything.
Maybe it's just that XP doesn't recognize anything but a printer or a scanner off the LPT1... but that would be odd.
Anyone can help, please ?
Thanks in advance.
