I don't know of any Intel mobos that overclock....but they are incredibly stable.

The only way to overclock on any of the old intel BX boards is to be using one of the boards that has a jumper for 66 & 100 mhz bus speeds. Set the jumper for 100 mhz & see if your 333 will run 500mhz or not. Intel does not have any other bus speeds to choose from on their boards, nor do they allow for voltage adjustments. I'd guess about half the boards used the 66/100mhz jumper.

The only way to overclock the SE440BX Intel board is to get a program called CPUFSB. It allows you to change the FSB through software. I am running it and have my P3 450@555 (124 FSB)... You will probably see another program out there called softFSB but I could not get that one to run.... There is a thread I posted in here a couple of weeks ago on this issue and got a lot of response... Search for 440BX (sorry for the laziness.....

like i said i have a 366 running at 550 in this board courtesy of pin taping.

So mrUnderdog did you get your board to OC ?

so i looked up the motherboard specs from intel, and i am going to try taping the pin, after i try the cpufsb program. thanks for all the responses, been busy replacing the heatsink on the cpu, the fan had practically fallen off by the time i got to it

so im looking at the intel mobo specs, and the only pin chart i can find for pin taping that lists pin B21 has pin B21 as the IRQ 7 pin under the ISA connector.
Perhaps im reading it wrong.

Ive also been messing around with CPUFSB, and it the program asks me to find my specific PLL. For those of you that used CPUFSB,
mine reads cypress, and CY2280PVC, yet CPUFSB does not have that PLL listed. hmmmmm......

in the mobo manual, the pins for the slot 1 connector aren't labeled abc etc, they just have numbers. Ill look up pin 21 (or B21 if it is actually there) anyway, when pin taping, what do i tape pin 21 to? and what kind of tape are we talking here? im assuming when i tape this pin, im gonna be shorting some circuit, or blocking that pin all together.
thanks

I doubt that kind of info will be avialable in any m/brd manual

You'll be blocking off B21 btw

Read this guide for more info ,I think it'll answer all your questions

Btw you do realise that the chances of a Cel 333 going to 500MHz aren't brillant ?,if it does work you'll likely need more voltage to the cpu ,good luck

So finally, the end result.
CPUFSB does not work. the program does have my PLL listed, using any other PLL at any speed makes the system crash.
I think pin taping would work, but my guess is the motherboard does not have adequate voltage to support 100mhz FSB. It starts up and crashes. I guess i could buy another motherboard, but that would cost money.
oh well worth a shot.

Greetings-
I remember doing an overclock on a 300A back in the day and I seem to remember being able to cut a trace to get more voltage...
Good Luck!

Yeah I think the link I gave above details that ,if not its somewhere on his site!

Mr underdog
Your m/brd will most likley be able to supply a higher voltage(I think 2.2v is the only option) ,but as Fish mentioned you'll will need to cut a tract on the CPU to tell the m/brd to suplie this by default.I think its all in the link I gave
