Su,s up my feelings. I miss the sarcasm/satire/act, but he is watchable. He feels like Letterman now: not super funny but there's something that keeps me coming back. Still prefer him over the rest.
Definitely. I normally only watch these shows for the monologues and both Fallon and Kimmel are shit in terms of having funny monologues. I couldn't possibly care less about any of the guests they have. But I've actually watched a few of Colbert's interviews. He still does a lot of the shtick that he used to do with guests which always annoyed the crap out of me, but at least now he's toned it down substantially.

Old Colbert was fantastic because of the fact that he was playing an opposite-world version of O'Reilly. The sarcasm, parody and ridiculousness of it never got old. Plus he had some incredibly well-done and informative bits like the ones on super PACs. But as I said, I hated watching his interviews and think I saw less than a dozen over his entire tenure.

I understand that he can't be as blatantly political on CBS as he was on Comedy Central and I think the humor has suffered because of that. But he's made up for it in other ways. For example the bits where he uses the Hunger Games parody to announce candidates dropping out of the race is just classic.

The one complain I have is that he generally seems to split his comedy bits over 2 parts of the show. He generally does the intro monologue followed by the graphic of the miniature NY and then goes right into his bit for the night. But then, most of the time, he does another bit later in the show after the first or second guest. I guess the idea is to get people to still watch through the boring interviews but fortunately we have these devices known as DVRs.
