Wow that's a name I haven't heard in years! :Q ,yea he was a SETI big gun in the very early days.
I expect you'll see his name in my saved stats thread

And yes you can also search for user names in the search function for the forum.
I've just done a search for 'Wintermute' but I don't think that's exactly the right name, I'm sure the one we knew was a bloke & he signed on long before 2002.

Search here ,bottom of page.

How could I NOT remember the Phantom Flusher :disgust::|

I ended up giving up my original RC5 account due to that #*(&*$*&Y#Y$ :|

I don't think any of us will ever let ViRGE forget the big dump day. hehe.

That info is not available, only last login and the number of posts.

For me, 7 years, 5 months or approximately 2,710 days @ 20 times a Day = 54,200 logins.

Finally found Wintermute in one of the old stats thread in 4-11th March 2000
I've jost gone through all the 2000 stat threads (phew!) & that is the only time wintermute shows up, I guess he/she was a 1 hit wonder?
From SETI classic Team stats page:-

917) wintermute ... 1433 ... 1.111 years ... 6 hr 47 min 35.9 sec ... Tue Apr 4 07:56:12 2000 ... Sweden
The stats threads around that date are missing.

Like I said above, I think that's the wrong Wintermute [edit]yep ..............though their doesn't seem to be any others listed even if you just search for 'Winter'

As a test I did a search for 'Coffee_Freak' who hasn't been around for about 7yrs IIRC, the search came up with this:-
No users were found matching the author your entered. Please re-construct your search, and try again.
So I think that maybe the original Wintermute has also been deleted from the database.

Do you know if they purge inactive users after a certain time?

I also remember when he had access to some big crunchers back in 2000.

Then he dissapeared.

Mark,

As far as I know the user base is never "cleaned". There is a possibility that when the AT software went through one of its changeovers (in the early days) some of the users (maybe the inactive ones) may have been dropped. I'll ask one of the "Admins" and see what they have to say.

At one point about 2 years ago, the database was purged during a FuseTalk upgrade/downgrade depending on how you look at it. This was done by our previous FuseTalk admin and I am not sure as to what criteria he used to purge accounts.

Besides that purge, I am not aware of any additional purges being planned. We do not delete accounts/purge accounts after a pre-determined amount of inactivity.

Of course, currently running Seti and Folding@Home. I haven't been as active crunching as I have been in the past as I have sold off most of my extra computers.

/me waves back, and then around at everybody else.

I am doing well, how bout you?

Same job (just tons more responsibility), same city and state, same wife and kids (so far).

Kids are getting older and into sports, keeping me running around everywhere. The job is just exploding, and that keeps me about 99% busy during the day now.

Who are you calling an old timer? (actually I was suprised my account was still active)

I haven't posted here in several years, but this used to be my home away from home. I haven't done much crunching myself since shortly after the RC5-64 challenge ended.

I still lurk around here once in awhile, so maybe well chat later.

Hell, I login to AT just to look up "oldtimer'

Kids, mortgage, work and life in general takes up most of my time. Hope all the "oldtimers" here are doing great.

I thought of AT just a few mins ago while persusing another forum and found "Jokersmoker" posting a deal, not sure if it was the original one from the old AT Hot Deals days ... but it brought back memories of Value America and all that craziness.

Anyways, i'll post again ... maybe in 4-5 months. Hahaha.

I was posting on AT in 2000 under a different name (I can't remember, hence the new login). In ~2002 I joined and did DC, but not as heavy as lately. I have been really addicted as of late:

Oh man, that was fun!

Various members would conspire to put a cow or two, or ten crunching someone's account, then flush all at once! I think I was the beneficiary once.

I ran a couple herds of 486s crunching RC5 and OGR. One at the school where I volunteered and another at my workplace. It was nice when we got them on a network so I didn't have to sneakernet. Shared the buffers until you would get a file lock when two machines hit at the same time. Then I setup a proxy server. I had to sneakernet the proxy until I got access to a phone line and could flush over a 14.4 modem.

Aww, those were the days!

How about CrackRacks? I used to heat my basement with one.

/viz waves at the other oldtimers
