Looking at Ornerys pictures sure brings back memories of the old place...
Harvey, what was the screen name of the other person (IIRC it was a woman) who went the small claims route... went down to Buy.com and participated in a meeting with some execs? I was one of the original WMC... I remember laughing at the image of the carload of geeks driving down I-5 and 'storming the walls...'
Nice to see some of the old timers!
How about these names?
Shux Clams
Guy Under The Bridge
I can't remember the screen name, but the guy who said RDRAM was the coming thing that would take the industry by storm and paid some ungodly sum for it...
also the guy from Intel who was just a great guy and was a wealth of information...TB or something like that....
ETA: fkloster was the guy who started the thread on RDRAM. I just remember that thread as being more argumentative than most. Up there with nVidia vs. 3DFX...
Hey, I remember you! lol Shuxxy has come to my forums every now and again.
UG - HI!

interesting how this thread is like a window back to the beginnings. I had my username changed from "OuterSquare" to "OS".
I still remember stupid ass threads like voodoo3 vs geforce where people flamed each other incessantly over whether 32 bit vs 16 bit color mattered or not.
I can vouch that as recently as last year, Russ is still alive cause I spoke with him.

That was supposed to be the most stable, overclockable board ever! I purchased it on Anand's recommendation. Spent WAY too many hours trying to get the bugs out of that configuration...

Compliments of Denis Fillion. I went searching for it, but he apparently, reading this thread, sent the link to me, via email. :Q
Thanks Ornery!, for the old memories.

hey, yea i remember something on that. I used to have a similar mobo, same VIA socket 7 chipset based. That mobo was bordering on being a piece of junk, later I dropped a screw on mine while it was still on, killed it and probably did myself a favor.
Fortunately the days of crappy AMD chipsets is gone.

Actually, that was a VIA chipset. AMD chipsets are actually quite non-problematic, but very lackluster for features (heck of a trade of, eh?) Have several dual AMD boards w/ AMD chipsets in play and really loved my AMD chipset based Slot A boards, but have always had a love/hate relationship with with VIA on both AMD and Intel platforms. All of my boards now are nVidia based.
