Reddit has lately become more entertaining for me.

Thanks, believe it or not I just checked out Reddit for the first time. It looks like good stuff there, and great conversations here too.

I originally came here to solve my computer problems and for advice on hardware/software.

Me too a long, long time ago. For me one topic was difficult. I'm not sure if I got the idea from AT or not, but in 1999 I got the guts to delid my K6-2. I failed and killed it. I discovered a boundary in tech I would no longer cross.

No idea. ATOT is still my go-to off topic forum. The pace has slowed down a lot and a lot of the core members are gone, but it's still entertaining to visit once a day.

I remember a time when you'd read the first page of ATOT, refresh, and see a whole list of different threads on the first page. Good times.

Some of us have been here for well more than a decade, but it's rather naive to think this will last forever. With a private site there's no guarantee the owner won't decide it's time to pull the plug some day. Who could blame someone deciding not be tied to something for a lifetime?

Assuming that time comes, we'll lose touch with each other, as tenuous as that contact is.

What would you do if one day you found the site was gone? Where would you head?

I'm on a sports forum as well, although I'm not nearly as active there as I am here. Also, reddit. I'd probably spend some time crying into a bucket of chicken when this place shuts down though.

I am not technically an old timer, but I have been here a while, and am old enough to realize the futility of idolizing this forum towards some "good old day" BS. Considering this forum goes down every day (surprised it hasn't happened yet) it is already my "backup" to just reading cracked articles and my webcomics.

I can count on some retarded ass shit here, but there are definitely a few posters which I care about their opinion on big things.

I know plenty other tech forums that were booming about 10 years ago that have all but turned into ghost towns. It seems that Anandtech and Tom's Hardware is all that's left now.

HardOCP also have nice forum.
