I've posted this on a few of the forums I belong to, and figured I'd share it here also.
As most of you know, Logitech has refused to offer Vista drivers for their older mice.
I've got 2 MX300s which perform horrendously slow with Vista's generic drivers, plus the normal button options are missing also.
Well I finally got Mouseware running on Vista, so my mouse is happy now.
Here's what I did:
Download the latest XP Mouseware Driver, 97.91.
Using WinZip, or WinRar, extract the installer to a separate file.
Open the extracted folder and right click on "Setup.exe", and select "Properties".
Click on the "Compatibility" Tab and check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" WindowsXP Service Pack 2.
Hit Apply and OK.
Now right click on "Setup.exe", and select "Run as administrator".
The install should now proceed just like it used to under XP.
Now here's the tricky part:
Certain functions of the Mouseware control panel , button re-assignment for example, will not stick. They will revert back to whatever the default is.
Here's the work-around:
Go to "Program Files/Logitech.
Right click on the Logitech Folder, and select the security tab.
Click on the "Edit" button, and give full control for "Users", and "Trusted Installer.
Click Apply and OK.
Your mouse should now be fully functional, and all options should now work.
