I still have a Pentium III 866 mhz, not overclocked with 768mb of SD ram installed.

And i plan to keep it going till it dies. I run it as a server.

I got a Pentium III running at 740mhz with 256MB SDRAM. It's running XP SP3 and it gets used as a printer and for BT.

The 366 Celeron is still going in my Gateway Solo. I use it once in a while for some office work or an older game.

Good idea, but it won't work. There are no Windows 98 drivers for any of today's hardware.

edit: Not even motherboards.

During the install, the only sound cards it supports are the original soundblaster, and a few others. Also, I tried the recent win95 version, and set up up to run in win95 compatability mode, and it still locks up.

Pentium III at 800MHz in a DELL laptop from circa 2002. Runs XP w/SP3 jsut fine with 640MB ram and 80GB hdrive. It's got the old 10mb wireless card hanging out the PCMIA slot

I use it daily for hours and hours for everything related to internet activies (email, web surfing, eShopping, etc). Works like a champ. The 6-hr battery pack (its an X200) has a lifespan of about 30 minutes nowadays. Not bad after 6+yrs.

I have a Athlon 850 with 512MB SDRAM to work with. With XP SP3 and 40GB HDD. Used for daily internet activities and some office applications. Crawling slow with so many programmes installed. Can't run other programmes simultaneously when video application is on. Pitiful!

I am able to play the original C&C as part of the First Decade pack in vista64 just fine.

I told him about TFD before. Mark owns all those games already, to expect him to buy them again is silly.

Mark, have you tried Dosbox, or is the game too new for that?

Also, don't VMs handle all the hardware calls themselves (i.e. you can set up the VM to tell the Virtual OS that you have, say, a Pentium 2)? or do I not understand how VMs work?

Our office's file server is a PIII/550 with an array of ~20GB SCSI drives. It's noisy and hot, but as long as it keeps running, the boss isn't willing to replace it. (It doesn't need any more speed, but the efficiency is deplorable.)

I got the first decade pack but it's buggy as hell on my computer. I really like the covert operations missions but most of them crash. :|

Seriously? I hadn't heard that. I've still got a copy of 98SE, and probably a copy of 98O [original ]. Hmm, I'm going to have to check that out.

Running a PIII-M 600Mhz in an 8 year old laptop w/ 512MB RAM and a PCMCIA wireless lan card. Its so old the batteries have decayed to the point of uselessnes, so it just stays plugged in next to the couch and mainly serves as an IMDB/Wikipedia lookup tool.
