I will agree that the Olevia 537H is definitely superior but this hot deal is for the 337H.

I guess $800 shipped to Canada isnèt too bad then is itÉ

I am totally confused. To me the Westinghouse screen is better at $800 because of its PC functionality.

Every place that I have read says that the 337H is the same as the 537H - but the 537H has a tuner. I Googled a bit before I posted.

Just trying to be helpful by posting my experience with a TV that I believe is virtually the same (again, aside from the tuner) as the one posted....

Yes your post was definitely helpful, as are all of your posts

I was just clarifying that this is deal is for the 337H which is a different model.

IIRC the 537H has an in home warranty and the 337H is mail in.

Also don't they have different chipsets? I know there is a chart out there which lists the differences in the 3 series.

Good point, Rossman.

I guess I should have checked the source:
http://www.olevia.com/products/compare.aspx?pidFrom=337h&pidTo=537H

So, you are right, not the same. Different chipset, different warranty, no tuner and a couple of differences on the inputs. Thanks for the correction, and my apologies for the confusion.

I was pretty sure that they were different models because I usually thoroughly research a product before going to the next step, finding a hot deal. I spent about 10 hours reading about the 337H vs 537H. If I wanted best bang for my buck and knew I would have a cable/satellite box then I'd get the 337H hands down. It's hard to find a 37" LCD for under $599 which can match it.

However the Olevia 537H remains my favorite. IIRC the 537H has a 1:1 pixel mapping and QAM tuner?

I remember when NewEgg.com had it "on sale" for $999. Now you can buy the awesome Westinghouse 37" 1080p LCD for $799 with CostCo's general return policy (90 days) and 2 year warranty.

LOL I had it in my cart and was all set to check out....A friend told me that he couldn't add it because it was no longer available....lo and behold it was removed from my cart and the product page is no longer coming up for me. Guess I missed out on the deal by a minute or two.

<EDIT> I just tried again and the page is back (it was totally gone...like sent you to the fry's home page) but now it's listed as "out of stock". I called Fry's and they said that they don't expect any more in (I.E. it's not in the system that they're on order or anything). </EDIT>

Ordered this online late afternoon on 5-28, checked order early the next morning and they had no records of my order. Figured I had missed the boat like some others on here had done.

But I decided to call Frys just to make sure. CS confirmed no order on file.:brokenheart: Then he asked if I wanted to reorder it !?! Duhhhhhhhhhhh!! Which of course I did. Bottom line:

I received it two days later, and it looks awesome ! Lots better picture than any of the various displays I have seen.

Only negative thing, the remote is not universal. And since Olevia is a fairly new brand, I have been unable to find the code that will work with any of the numerous universal remotes I have. All CS says is my local cable company has codes for all of Olevias products. NOT Charter evidently.

So, if anyone has a code I can use, it would be greatly appreciated! Either post it here or send it to : tnshadows@yahoo.com

The 537h does have 1:1 pixel mapping and a QAM tuner. The 1:1 is one of the zoom options available. I've also hooked up the TV to the cable feed and picked up sd and hd channels with the QAM tuner from Comcast in my area.

Spending 150+ bucks on an external tuner seems a little silly since you can get a 537h with a built in tuner for about the same price. Less cabling to worry about and a lot more inputs on a 537h.

My only complaint about a 337 would be a major lack of inputs. Since you do not have a tuner you need an external tuner hooked up. A total of 4 inputs (1 hdmi, 1 component, 1 vga or component with adapter not included, 1 s video or composite) really doesn't allow you to hook much up. I've got what I consider to be a very simple setup and I would have already had to have bought a hdmi cable or the component adapter to use the VGA port as a component port with just a DVD player, cable box and WII hooked up. Adding a vcr or another game system would be difficult or impossible depending on the outputs available.

A monitor isn't an entirely bad idea but since monitors are almost always the cheaper sets they are also usually short on inputs. No built in tuner and limited inputs is just a bad combination.

This is now available for the same price at Fry's B&M, through tomorrow, 6/7/07. (At least in SoCal.) Sales tax, but no shipping.
