Why? The pay is based on supply and demand, and accounts for the additional time off (fewer hours worked) and generous benefits. Why should there be some arbitrary rate set for one group of workers versus another?
My wife is in her 6th year of teaching and only makes $36k/year.

but as long as they have enough qualified candidates to fill the positions, why should they start paying more?
Makes me feel better about my wife making $38k in her 6th year
If your argument is just that 'its understandable' based on precedent I can agree. However I think your analogy is wrong given that there is a difference between taking a picture of a raging boner and taking a picture wearing a bikini nor do I think it should be enough to dismiss the teacher. I find it an odd place to draw the line. What about taking a picture of a teacher if she is wearing tights while running? That could be distracting because Mrs X has a nice ass and it looked good in her running clothes. IMO The line should be in excess of standard beach wear. A raging boner is not standard beachwear - a bikini is
I would argue that - at least in my area - many schools can't find qualified teachers because they don't have the budget to hire them (school funding being cut). Salaries go down -> teachers leave -> Scores go down -> less funding -> lower teacher salary -> more qualified teachers leave -> lower scores -> less funding -> .....

Teacher's have "moral contracts". They aren't supposed to publicly display their personal preferences in politics, religions, and certain beliefs. They also have to maintain a neutral status in their personal sphere so that it does not intervene or influence day to day teaching.
If personal issues become a distraction in the classroom, or school as a whole, and detract from the teacher or schools ability to conduct regular education, a teacher can be fired.
Example: I post pictures of myself online, not of my penis, but of a big throbbing erection in tight underwear with the thumbs up sign. I call it art and it is appreciated in my circle of friends. It's a free country, I can do whatever the fuck I want to. It's not porn. Cocks.
Result: I and other teachers can't go a day without cock teacher becoming a hot topic. It's in the lunch room, homeroom, people are drawing cocks in shop, it's everywhere. The school then fires me trying to get rid of the "distraction".
Several months later, people forget about Cock Art.
-------------------
It's really vague in the contract language, but it's there in some form. Alot of teacher unions will sue though, but the school may still fire someone even if it's not justifiable, just to get rid of them. They will calculate the legal costs into the decision.
I know I feel better about my wife making only 30k a year to teach here in Colorado. She made more in the poor little state of New Mexico than here.

damn good makeup then! and likely airbrushing too.
not that any of it matters. its not like shes seeking attention. shes a book worm, and wants to be a professor. ahem.
BWWWAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA! LOL
Sorry, but I think that is bull shit. Teachers need to be paid more.
Teaching seems to be the profession that is a last ditch effort to make a career. I have met an incredible amount of people who major in "elementary education". All of my WHY. Some of these people need not be teachers.
Ahhh, she's a "booth babe" basically. I can see why she got fired, sucks, but it's understandable.
i had teachers who flagrantly proselitized their religious mumbo jumbo all the time in high school... even in biology class.Teacher's have "moral contracts". I don't know if this is true anywhere else but here on LI the teachers with tenure make near 6 figures. A friend @ 35yo for example is at 95k. Middle school teacher. 2 months off for summer. The requirement is a masters (not as hard as it sounds) and you're good. School superintendents make over $250k (and then there's this gem). On a LI board we bitch & moan about it ($9k/yr just in school taxes) but what can we do about these UNIONS??? Same goes for cops. Many over 6 figures. I'd like to know if this is true anywhere else. Meanwhile if we don't pass the school budget every year our kids get programs cut from them. Fuggin unions. How did we let it get so out of hand?
AFAIK, the superintendent is not part of the union. I don't know why we paid her so much god-damn money. But the people of Syosset keep electing the same groups to the school boards.... it must have something to do with the runaway costs.
She is an escort...using the bikini model photo cover..
Sounds like she has a pretty good wrongful termination suit against the school/district/city/state. There was no good reason to fire her over some modeling shots.
So, my wife works at a school. A lot of her kids live in the same neighborhood as us. Two weekends ago we were at the community pool and she saw some of her kids. She was in a bikini. Should she be fired?
um.. watch the video. makeup is her best friend, along with sucking in her stomach and only posing in stretched out poses.
shes barely a 5/10 in real life. takes some nice pictures, but shes boarderline a dog.
i really dont think this is even her in the op link- http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1123118/thumbs/o-OLIVIA-SPRAUER-TEACHER-570.jpg?6
maybe it is, but that is some MAJOR artistry to pull that off.
whaa? they fired her over that? fuck that insane.
