Thanks Reckanize. I called the South San Jose store and they're sold out of every D-550, C-4000's. The guy was nice enough to tell me that they're going to get a shipment on Friday, so I should call again on Friday (and Saturday when their freight gets completely unloaded) and check on it. BTW, the sale ends this Sat (2/1 is the last day), so hope everyone gets in on this while it's available.

I beat the system, sort of. I don't feel like going into the details. BUT the best price my OM could give me was 325 with a 2 year warranty. 250 was the max I was spending so I left. I got home, got the phone number to OM and talked to a very nice lady. She called the store I just left to confirm the price of $300, they did. She got back on the phone, I gave her my $50 off $250, she thanked me, said it'll be here friday. So I guess it's not just B&M. I didn't get a free card but you can't win them all. I'm going to enable PM's right now as well. Thanks for the find guys. -DaK

Arrived at 8:45pm in Norman, OK. No d-550 in stock, asked for substitution. He checks with manager and says they can substitute the c-3000 which is $499. He tells me it has better optics than c-4000, but only 3 megapixel. I say the c-4000 is same price, I want it instead. He goes to manager's office, then to stockroom. Comes back and says they only have 1 and it's on hold, but I can come tomorrow and see if person has picked it up...

We'll see

That would preclude using the $40 rebate to get the printer down to $80. Has anyone found out about this? For $45, this printer is still not a bad deal.
Send in the $40 rebate, you'll get it. If you don't it will have cost you the price of a stamp.

I called my local OM who is finally sold out of the D-550's and is substituting the C-4000's

In regards to the $75 Olympus/Epson printer rebate, what printer do you recommend ordering and where from?

So far the only suggestion I have seen is the Epson 785EPX for $79 @ Staples

If you don't want to mess with the Staples.com $40 MIR on the Epson 785exp, you could PM to here at Staples B&M and maybe use a $15 off $75 cpn if you're lucky.

Well, there are two other printers on that rebate form. Another option is to go for the 925 from Staples ($249.99) and use a $50 coupon. Then do a PM to Techsavings.com ($228) which will leave you paying about $100 AR +tax for a $250 printer. I have done this BTW.

However, you can't beat FREE, and the 785 is a good printer.

I officially hate you all

The 2 closest OM's (Everett and Lynnwood, WA) are out of both the D-550 and the C-4000. Anybody know if the Seattle store has any more?

I'm torn between buying the Epson 785EPX from either Staples for $75 with MIRs or OM for $99 with no MIRs.

And I have the C-2010. Still love it. The best part of it is the lens. It got one of largest apertures for 3x zoom (2.0-2.8) and one of the best macro mode. 2.1MP is sufficient for 8x10 prints, if you don't crop.

J guy, you know who you are, the one who sent me a PM and wanted a scan of the receipt for Illinois. I have no problem doing that, but you didn't give me your e-mail and I rushed and clicked "Done" button, before replying to you, or, at least, remembering your user name Sorry about that
Send me another PM with your e-mail.

Including the price, it's the C-4000 easily. If you look at all reviews as well as sample pictures, you'll notice and they will also state that picture quality is only bested by Canon G-series.

The ONLY reason the price is so low now is due to it's use of soon to be discontinued SmartMedia format.

Hopefully that will mean that buying SM will be really cheap!!

Argh! Had to return the camera. Fortunately, they gave me a rain check. I had some Dead Pixels on the LCD. Made images look grainy.

John P., you don't have to hate everybody here, but you'll probably hate me. I got the last C-4000 at the Lynnwood store after trying Everett. I do want to thank the two people who had the D-550's on hold at the Lynnwood store. It's the only thing that allowed me to get the C-4000! Now I need to think about what to do with the D-550 I bought a month ago.

The Seattle (Ballard) store is out of the D-550. I just got one (c-4000) put on hold for me.

Now I just need to figure out whether or not I should pick one up for my friend as well. Hmm.

Beware,

Epson will not honor $75 rebate from Staples for 785EPX printer.

Epsons web site has a disclaimer at the bottom of it rebate page regarding Staples and I called their 800 number and they said that they will not honor rebate from staples. We are stuck with only the $40 rebate if you buy from Staples!

Well, OfficeMax here I come. I think my OM has the printer on sale for $99. $25 (after $75 MIR) ain't bad. I guess if I look at it a different way, I'm paying for the ink and getting a free printer. Yeah...that'll work.

That's a valid concern, but if you visit Olympus' web site, you'll see that there's no specific language disqualifying Staple's purchases:
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_rebates.asp

I've read all the fine print on the rebate form itself, and buying the printer at Staples meets all conditions. However, as you said, they might red-flag the claim and one would have to fight for the $$.
